Romo can stay (for now, at least), T.O. must go, and Wade Phillips must go. However, knowing Jerry Jones, it's very doubtful he will make anything more than a few cosmetic changes. But do you really want to know what I would do? Well, you're going to hear it anyway. First, do what I said above; cut T.O. and fire Phillips. Then, contact Bill Cowher and say the following three words; "Name your price." I would allow Cowher to oversee many of the general management operations, but let him know that in one year's time our team would be pursuing the one and only...Tim Tebow. With this as the starting point for the franchise, Romo would be granted one or two more seasons (he may be needed as trade bait to acquire Tebow), and extraneous players like Roy Williams, Tank Johnson, and Pacman Jones would also be cut. Then, after all the dust has settled, we would be left with the following core of players; Tim Tebow, Marion Barber III, Jason Whitten, and Felix Jones. I don't know about you, but that combination gets me all giddy inside. So long as Cowher could shore up the defense [which is certainly his specialty], and we are able to acquire one or two high-quality receivers [the league is chock full of those], the Cowboys
could be a forced to be reckoned with.
Will it happen? Heck no. Jerry Jones still operates under the assumption that so long as your team is chock-full of talented players, you can win every week. He doesn't yet understand the concept of
team football.
