To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.

While I certainly would not want to be seen as sharing some of the views expressed here by people who self-identify as Christians, I think that there are at least plausible reasons why homosexual behaviour is "bad", over and above a simple appeal to the authority of the Bible (which I do consider authoritative, but that is another matter).

I suspect that you have heard many self-identified Chistians, in this and other threads, essentially elevate homosexual sin above all others and paint its pracitioners as evil, slavering, perverts.

No wonder you question us on this matter.

Please consider the possibility that the correct way for the Christian to think about this is not that homosexuals are monstrous perverts, but rather that they engage in a behavior that is simply not in their ultimate long term interests, or the interests of society at large. In any event, here are some thoughts as to why it is at least plausible that homosexual activity is "bad for people":

- there may be biological issues at play. It might turn out, for reasons beyond our control, that same sex sexual contact is physically unhealthy;

- it might not be in the long term interests of society for this behaviour to be endorsed for reasons related to the imperative to reproduce;

- it might turn out that for some kind of deep unalterable reasons, the "chemistry of mind" of a male makes for a better, more stable, more contructive societal unit when the male is paired up with the female who has a fundamentally different type of mind.

Well if your moral compass is always pointing at yourself (or your neighbors) then who can quibble with your own definition of "bad"? From your logic, I might as well decide that it is "good" to unilaterally put you out of your misery, as it were, no? :squint:

My sense of humor must be impaired.

I don't find horrible things happening to people funny, whether or not they were doing something stupid at the time.

It makes me cringe, it makes me want to pray for them, it makes me want to help them.

It doesn't make me laugh.

On second thought, I do remember laughing at a bit in a Naked Gun movie a long time ago, where a gangster's moll comes slinking down a staircase to sexy music, and falls halfway through. She got up, the music resumed, and she continued across the floor as if nothing happened, only to run into the side of a doorway.

That one made me laugh quite a bit. Course, a lot of that had to do with precision comedic timing and thwarting the expectations of the viewer, rather than schadenfreude.

Then again, maybe it was just humor at seeing something horrible happen to someone. Maybe there's hope for my sense of humor after all.

Eating large quantities of Trans-Fats is deadly to you personally......would this be bad?

BTW......if you get around to it, if you have the interest. Do a word study on "abomination". Not as it is used in English (we know that....vile destable & such) but what the Hebrew word translated "abomination" is and how it's used elsewhere in Scripture.

Do this and know the OUR LORD loves you and wants what is best for you. Sometimes what we like or are comfortable with; is not what is best for us.

Have any of you asked god if gay is bad...
You will no doubt say read the bible. Did god tell you that it wrote the bible. Does the bible have gods paw print on it.

**edited by Knight**

Yes, I would. As well as reviewing the evidence that is written on all of our hearts, and as well as the evidence that homosexuality is a destructive death-style.

How did these words from god come to. What form. Im interested and im not being sarcastic.

Re the infraction. How do i describe the act between hetro's with out using the correct term. Were adults here, surely we can deal with adult terminology.

I think yours and many others on here is far more offensive.

Well there is this misshapen body I have that kinda throws the proverbial monkey wrench into things. A double mastectomy and a dose of steroids, possibly for the rest of my life, never sat well with me. I guess I could continue to wrap an Ace bandage around my chest like I do when I teach. And then there's someone I love very much and want to spend the rest of my days with that I'll be forced to kick to the curb, that doesn't sit very well with me either.

Are you threatening my life? I just looked up Florida State law regarding that. Verbal threats are not enough to allow me to legally use deadly force. I guess I'll have to wait until you try something.

Of course. Is being homosexual or transgendered deadly?

I could see it being deadly if I was fooling around with someone that has AIDS or if I was near AMR since he has threatened to kill me. But 2 monogamous, disease-free homosexuals in a relationship? Nothing directly deadly about that.

To'ebah?

As far as I can tell that's about breaking ritual law. It also makes eating shrimp or lobster as bad as being gay or cross-dressing.

Life is full of trade-offs. In the short term you have made the decisions that you feel are most convenient for you.... in time you may find you were wrong.

I hope you end up doing the right thing.... I really do.
