Do you really believe that murderers can act as they please and may well die and never face any day of account?

Just because you may WANT no punishment or heaven for anyone doesn't mean that they aren't real.

Conversely, your desire isn't controlled by the probable outcome, as you see it. But I suppose in that light your answer would change and that the two of you were simply talking from different foundational understandings.

You're assuming that's what's happening to begin with. I don't see it that way. You choose separation from the good and what it entails and you make of yourself and situation something other and removed.

We talk about eternity, but we don't live there. We talk about past and future, but we only exist in this moment and this moment is either challenging and enjoyable or it isn't. I think the problem is with your concept of heaven.

Unless you refer to a human-created court system (whose criteria are arbitrary and exhault the social order above the individual - thus the reason I often reject them), no.

Short answer: no.

"A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." - Nietzsche

If I were referring to that I wouldn't believe what I was saying.

Thus my point - barring artifical systems of "justice" created by humans to serve human purposes, there is nothing else that will hold anyone "morally" accountable for their actions. We live in a universe governed by nothing but blind cause and effect which is complertely indifferent to any sense of "morality" this clever ape called humanity creates for itself.

Yes, there is.

You think? I think a Big Mac is about as man made as it gets. Or a Camry. I think morality is an abstract concept created by a comparison between our behaviour and a higher standard.
So you think men created the standard by which they all try to live up to?
