Anyway, the last time Texas played anybody this good was Ohio State last year. Texas came in averaging, I don't even know, close to 50. Seems like they half time score was 6-3, and the final 24-21. And Texas isn't playing nearly as well, and Alabama is playing much better than OSU last year. I use the example because those two coaches actually have very similar philosophy with ball control, field position and defense. OSU's line stinks, Bama's is good.
I think this game could get ugly in a physical manner. Not in a 30 point blow out, but a man handling.
= Bama
And I don't like or dislike either team, lest somebody thinks I have a bias.
If Colt McCoy doesn't get hurt...the same results will come. Looking a little closer to Texas' first two possessions, they had a 10 play drive amassing all of 36 yards, followed by 4 plays and 5 yards, for 2 field goals. It was Alabama settling down on offense that put it away.
ESPN News is reporting Peter Carrol to the Seahawks as "very likely". That is sad, he is a great asset to college football, and has fielded the best team of the BCS era. They did in fact have to rebuild this year, as opposed to reload. That would be the exception.

I'd hate to see it as a college football fan who prefers to see traditional powerhouses remain in play and I'd hate to see it as a pro football fan, since Seattle has been, historically, where coaching careers go to die...though the fan base is top notch.
A potential lose/lose situation, though I could understand Pete wanting the challenge.
Yes. I'm glad Alabama won, but I didn't want it to be like that. I was hoping for a good game and once he got knocked out it was essentially over.
Yep. Made it a dull as dishwater game for a large part of the second half, where Bama went into the clock draining prevent/run mode. Though I think that had a little to do with the respect Saban held and holds for Mack Brown. And I don't think anyone wanted to embarrass Texas when it was clear enough that the contest was uneven.
That said, when the Longhorns rallied to make a game of it with the understudy QB playing as well as anyone could for a stretch the Tide stepped up and put the game away.
And anyone who questions whether Colt would have made enough of a difference in that game wasn't paying attention. Alabama shot itself in the foot out of the gate and played a horrible first few possessions and still only allowed 6 points for all that...and Ingram had nearly a hundred yards at the half. Colt doesn't play defense.
As for the Horns' defense--it played its heart out, but mostly slowed an offense that had decided to forget the scoreboard. No asterisk need be applied for. Roll Tide and look out NCAA! The only real question now is can my boys repeat?
