Abortion: Mission Impossible - December 19th, 2009, 01:06 PM

Good morning, Mr. Phelps (or whatever your name is).

You are being asked to perform a delicate, seemingly impossible mission. A woman is convinced that abortion should remain legal, that it is a woman's right to choose whether or not she wants to remain pregnant. This woman's position puts her future pregnancies at risk for termination, and endangers the lives of the future offspring of any women she might influence. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: provide her with your best argument why abortion is wrong, and provide her with the supporting evidence to support your argument.

You have three primary tasks to complete your mission:

1. Make your best argument against abortion in this thread.

2. Link to compelling evidence to support your argument.

3. List any and all the best resources (websites, books, videos, films) that can be used to convince someone that abortion is wrong.

Good luck, Jim!

(This thread will not self-destruct in five seconds.)

So, it just is (wrong) isn't an acceptable answer?!

I don't have a lot of answers, and probably seem pig headed or something, but when someone doesn't appreciate life in the womb it makes me wonder if they appreciate their own life as God does.

Shalom,

Jacob

So are you trying to get Phelps to protest abortion instead of homosexuals? You really want that clown on your side?

That was actually quite funny, and well played.

You must be playing the part of a man today.

Are you going to bring up my gender issues every time I post?

Not in the context of this thread. I'm looking to see this thread become a resource of arguments and information for people who actually want to tackle the impossible mission in real life.

Oh, well maybe I'm not a source as I have no experience with this. I know that abortion is wrong, but don't know anyone considering an abortion to convince of that fact. My best attempt is that all life is valuable and we must recognize that having children is a joy. As I'm not married, I don't have any children of my own.

Shalom,

Jacob

An honest question, not meant to be trollish in any way...

Since you so readily admit that eliminating abortion isn't ging to happen, why isn't this thread devoted to targeted education?

Targeted Education is the only way to lower abortion rates.

And we should start by educating you that the best way to stop abortion, is to make abortion illegal.

Spoken like a True Ignorant.

Abortions would not stop, they would back into the back alleys and bathrooms of America, where they were prior to RvW.

It would be driven underground again, a place where education does not reach and hard statistics are all but impossible to gather.

But hey, keep on pretending that abortions didn't occur prior to 1973 if that makes you feel better. They do say ignorance is bliss, after all.

Right, just like most other murders.

You're such a moron. It doesn't take a great deal education to know that... Abortion is murder, so don't do it, or you will be convicted of murder.

I have never denied that murdering children occurred before 1973. You're senile, old man.

It would stop *most* abortions ... and that is the goal. For any woman stupid enough to have a back alley abortion, I would say the same thing to her as I would a woman has plastic surgery done by a non professional ... "Did you expect a positive outcome ... Dummy!"

Abortion is a NOT a medically necessary procedure, and I have no desire to keep them *safe and legal*. After all, they certainly aren't *safe* for the unborn baby ...
