Here's why the philosophy of "party trumps person" is not acceptable to a conservative Christian: Under the "party trumps person" philosophy, no matter how reprehensible your party's candidate is to you, you have to vote for him. To a conservative Christian, candidates who espouse exceptions and regulations to abortion are guilty of going along with the murder of some unborn children. But God's sixth commandment does not. It simply states do not murder, period. It does not say do not murder unless the woman is raped for example. God does not hold His people accountable for the outcome of elections, only for our individual vote. We are not to vote for any candidate who will go along with killing even one unborn child.
