Religion is About You / The Gospel is About Jesus Christ - July 21st, 2011, 02:52 PM

I don't see much on this Forum about Christ and His Gospel.

Religion is man's preoccupation with his spirituality, it is very subjective. Religion is man's presentation of himself to God for acceptance, Luke 18:11, 12. The apostle Paul refered to his life as a Pharisee as a life of religion, Acts 26:5.

The religious man is concerned about his piety, his works, his obedience to the law. It is all about him. Here is the problem, "Him" is a sinner. God does not accept the piety, works, or the obedience of sinners. But you say you have an infused righteousness? Where? when? how? It appears to me that your infused righteousness didn't take. You are just as big a sinner now that you have been infused than you were before you were infused. Only real difference is now you are a religious hypocrite.

Religion is like a small child that has just discovered his belly button. He is enthralled with it. Nothing else matters but his belly button. So it is with the religious people, all they can talk about is their religion. Their piety, their good works, their obedience, their victory over sin. Little to nothing about what Christ has accomplished.

When I used to go to church all I ever heard about was what the Lord was doing in their lives. I mean that it was like a miracle a minute. It was no longer them that was doing the living, it was Christ living his life through them. I don't think that Jesus Christ who is pure and without sin is interested in living another life through a sinner. The New Testament emphasis is Christ in heaven at the right hand of God, and not in the heart, Hebrews 8:1.

The Gospel is about Jesus Christ. It is about His piety, His works, His obedience. It is about what He has accomplished in our name and on our behalf so that we can be justified. The Gospel is not about us. We had nothing, absolutly nothing, to do with the Gospel. We are like spectators watching the miraculous works of Christ unfold in the Bible. Stop and think about this. God in the person of Jesus Christ has reconciled the world unto himself, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. Wow! This whole big evil world has been reconciled to God by Jesus Christ? This is absolutly mind boggling. Get this, we didn't have a thing to do with it. Hey! all of you Calvinist, Catholics, etc. Its over, we have been reconciled to God by Jesus Christ. Your religion is worthless.

God now sees all of us as perfect and complete in Christ, Colossians 2:10. "Jesus is Lord" by his mighty works he has overcome and has defeated the world, the flesh, and the devil. Evidence of this is that Christ has been exhalted to the right hand of God, Philippians 2:9, 10, 11. Sin, death and the devil have been dealt with by Jesus Christ.

I agree with what you said but we are to now take that Gospel to all the world according to Christ. By taking the gospel to people you run into questions, at which point, you must give an answer. Christ has also set up teachers, envangelists, prophets....for the edifying of the body of believers. Kind of like workers tending a garden.

Our problem is we have those who are 'wheat' and those who are 'tares' mingling and arguing with eachother.

I also do not believe that we are to be out of the world but kept from the evil one. In which case we would all do well to study the Scriptures, pray for guidance, and give God all our heart so we don't end up twisting the Scriptures.

I totally agree with what you are saying on religion, but you came to that understanding through time. You are probably mature in the faith through years of walking with Christ. The current problem is the Devil is running the daycare and the parents don't seem to be concerned about it that much.....

Organized religion is a joke.

There is no Gospel. If there is no Gospel it means that there is no Holy Spirit. They are inseparable. So what do we have today? We have a church with no Gospel and no Holy Spirit.

This is exactly what the devil wants. It is the great whore church that is spoken of in Revelation 17:5.

That is because you didn't go in the "OSAS" threads. That is "Once Saved, Always Saved". Which is a redundant term. You have to go there to debate and rebuke those that pervert the gospel with their self righteousness.

Jesus saves completely. A9D-EL

For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped

Well, when you are a one-trick pony, this opinion is not unexpected.

You need to renounce your blasphemous Calvinist religion and trust in Christ alone.
