A Christian and a Muslim Talk about Jesus - II

This is the show from Wednesday July 27th, 2011.

* Bob Enyart concludes his talks with Sidney, a Muslim from Chicago, about Jesus Christ: While millions of Muslims deny even that Jesus Christ was crucified, Sidney acknowledges the crucifixion. In the Koran at Surah 4 Mohammad taught that Jesus was not crucified, and that he was not even killed, but like Enoch and Elijah, was brought into heaven. It's a sly way of undermining the resurrection while appearing to claim something positive about Jesus. That Surah says:

The People of the Book [the Jews] asked Moses... "Show us God..." Yet they worshiped the calf... Even so [God] forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority.

...they rejected Faith... they uttered against Mary a grave false charge [of being unchaste].

...they said in boast, "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of God." But they killed him not, nor crucified him... For a surety, they killed him not.

Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself. [i.e., Jesus did not die but rather ascended into heaven]

Surah 4:153, 156-158

Sidney said his Imam explained this as the Koran teaching that the Jews later claimed, "We" didn't kill Jesus. But that's not what Mohammad is presented as teaching. Rather, it was, "they" didn't crucify Him; "they" didn't kill him.

* Sidney Wouldn't Admit the Implication of the Resurrection: Sidney could not get himself to acknowledge that if Christ did not rise from the dead, then Christianity is false, but if Jesus did rise from the dead, then Islam is false and Christianity is true. Bob suggested that the only reason that Sidney would hesitate to admit this is because deep down he is doubting the Koran, Allah, and the false prophet Mohammad. Please pray for Sidney to trust in our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. You may not want to miss this program and the previous one! And after listening to these, if you'd still like to hear more, you can go back and hear our earlier talks with Sidney. (See the handy links list below.)
