Men used to do whatever they pleased at one time and women couldn't serve on a jury nor be a judge 100 years ago and even less than that in time. And we all know when women were allowed to vote, it wasn't that long ago.

Stripe, I really respect your humility. You could have taken the credit for your post, but you gave it to someone else. That is an awesome thing to do, and I would imagine that a man of your wisdom and spiritual maturity ALSO gives credit to Jesus Christ for everything!! I'm glad to call you friend and brother.

He did things on the Sabbath that the Jews didn't like. That's one example. He did many things that the Jews didn't like. Am I not correct?

Point is, Jesus said not one jot or tittle would pass from the law until all is fulfilled... is it "all" fulfilled? You said you were with Jesus, not the OT. Jesus wasn't against the OT as you are saying...

Not wholley related, but has come up in this thread; I don't understand how anyone can argue that pedophilia is not a mental illness. The idea that someone can look at a child sexually and be totally sane and healthy is just... nuts. Seriously. Are some of you thinking through what you're saying? This is not to say I think it excuses action. One may be messed up enough to feel lust for a child, but just like lust for anything else, one chooses whether to act on it or not. And acting on it is unforgivable.
Also, a question for those who think it should be DP for all child molesters and believe they cannot be treated/rehabilitated, just because I am curious about the answer; if a person approached a psychiatrist/ER dr/cop/friend/anyone and said that they were having sexual feelings and thoughts about/towards children and needed help, would they deserve the DP to you? In the scenario, the person has never touched a child and does not want to act on their feelings of lust, but is nonetheless a pedophile (sexually attracted to kids).

It depends on whether one thinks mental illness is a thing. One may believe that minds can be unsound, but does not believe there is such a thing as mental illness as defined by modern psychology/psychiatry.
Though I too wonder how anyone who believes mental illness is a thing can believe pederasty in any form does not qualify. And anyone who believes mental illness is not a real thing, but an unsound mind is then I also wonder how one could think it was not a condition of an unsound mind. However I do not believe I have ever come across anyone who purports the latter; all who believe the mind can be unsound but that it is not an illness at least believe pederasty is a condition of an unsound mind.
I also wonder how anyone can see homosexuality and think it is not a condition of an unsound mind; that it is normal.

Just as one who desires to commit murder, rape, incest, etc. does not deserve the death penalty if they have not acted upon those desires.
One is not a pedophile, by definition, until they have actually committed a sexual act upon a child. Before that they are only pederasts.
