Spare me your self-righteousness Granite. There are others around here who will take this tack seriously from you.....use it on them.
I'm serious. The only people here so far who've defended Zimmerman's lies--and his missus' perjury--are Christians. You guys aren't exactly coming down on the side of law and order here, to say nothing of the very basic "Tell the truth" life lesson.
This isn't self-righteousness, this is an observation. If your only response is to somehow make this about me, then this just demonstrates that I'm not the one with the problem.
I don't remember anything in the book along the lines of "When in doubt, lie in court," but maybe I missed that Sunday school lesson.

Sounds like some of the media reporting that has been going on in this case.

Stalking? Maybe, maybe not, we'll see if that can be proven in court.

Creepy little guy, isn't he?
As you said, Zimmerman could have avoided all of this, if he just did what the police told him to do. There's a good reason they didn't want him approaching a stranger on the street.
The thing that still gets me, is why a person with a criminal history of violence including an arrest for assaulting a police officer, was allowed to carry a gun. There's a good reason most states don't allow such people to have guns, and this incident demonstrates that. A quick temper and bad judgement are exactly the conditions that make homicide happen.
And yes, he could have gotten a baseball bat and might have been able to kill the kid anyway.

Granite you know exactly what I'm talking about here...The blind little "always tell the truth" to Officer Friendly is a good way to end up in the electric chair and you know it (even when innocent). Personally I favor the "keep your stupid mouth shut and let the Lawyer do the talking" approach.
I don't answer for "other Christians" and I don't know what they have or have not defended neither do I care. (I think we went over this once before).Regarding the perjury charge though; I don't know what you have heard or not; nor what others have/have not defended. What I do know is that from the looks of it this DA is going to have a heck of a time sticking it (much like the murder charge)...it's another over-reach.
There has been a pretty clear pattern of over-reaching on the part of the DA and the Judge (who can't get over the fact he asked the wrong questions and didn't follow up like he should have). It's pretty obvious the DA and Judge are doing their level best to make Georgie an example (deservedly or not). If I were in that circumstance...where the authorities involved are more interested in public opinion (#quelling possible riots) than they are in seeking justice...I'd be pretty cagey myself.

Sure. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about sitting in court and letting your wife lie to a judge. I'm talking about a guy whose story was challenged and disputed by detectives from day one. I'm talking about a guy whose story continues to change.
Bottomline, the perjury Mrs. Z. committed was barefaced, inexcusable, and tells us a lot about this couple and their character. And so far the only people who've defended lying in court...are you folks.

I'm sure they will have no problem getting a conviction for such an obvious case of perjury. That is the only reason why people are arrested isn't it?....because they are guilty?

Maybe because he wasn't convicted???
If memory serves me, the charges where dropped?
I was arrested at 12 years old for Strong Armed Robbery, hand cuffed, taken into the sheriffs office and locked up... 4 hours later my Uncle came down and got me out, took me home and busted my butt. Two days later the Sheriff called and had us come back...seems they had caught the right guy...at 10-15 feet the two of us looked like twins...the victim even identified both of us that day in separate line ups, my alibi was the better (I wasn't even in that town during the commission of the crime)...mistakes are made...and hopefully corrected later on.

Judging from the limited amount that I have been exposed to; it seems to me that is what everything has devolved into. They should change the name to the "Criminal Plea Bargain System".
