How do I get to the store?? -

When a stranger asks us, "how do I get to the freeway?" (expressway)
We give them the directions. When a stranger asks us, "how do I get to the nearest store, we tell them. What do you tell a stranger who asks you, "how, do I get to Heaven??"
We only have this one shot at telling them before, we part like two ships in the night. What's the most "important" things we want to, get across to them before we part with that stranger. What would you tell them??

What exactly do you tell them?? What you just said, seems very cold. It almost sounds like you want to tell them the truth so if they reject it, "so what!!"

Romans 10:9-10
Then, if they want to know what is in store for them, I teach them how to use their salvation by teaching them more.

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers." Acts 2:42
"For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?" Psalm 6:5
What is the question? Word it for me. Is it something like the jailer who said "what must I do to be saved?" Because he already converted in his heart upon seeing the miracle and being scared.
You do realize the gospel says they are evil and deserve to die, right? That is what is implied when you tell them Jesus will save you. It means you need to be saved. Apparently you haven't told many people that He died for their sin. Because many people don't want to hear it.
Hopefully, the next poster will give a little more detail and show a little more "empathy" for the lost, than Nick M did...
Like this?
“Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!” And when he had said these words, the Jews departed and had a great dispute among themselves
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles
Paul preached to them that Jesus will save them from their sin becaue they can not save themselves. They didn't like it.
Which reminds me, let me see how much you love your brother. When is the last time you told one that is helded for hell, that he is headed for hell, and there will be no escape? When?
Has anybody here ever even been asked "How do I get to Heaven"?
Maybe not in so many words, but I'm sure many here have had questions which follow that thought in some way.
When one truly reflects the love of Christ to others, others notice. Their aura of loving holiness is palpable.
And some they encounter will think "I want some of what that person has."
And the conversation, even if spoken between the lines, commences, through the grace of the Holy Spirit.
I've met people like that. I've seen that love with my own eyes. It's remarkable.

I would try to show them that God is Love Himself. That God loves us and we Him, that we live in Him and He in us.
And then I would let God work as He willed. Sometimes it doesn't take words, or the words come later.

ask Frodo, he has been telling people how to get to heaven for nearly a decade now.
what happened to the good ole' questions people used to ask Torah teachers? Matthew 19:16

Someone who asks, and means, "how do I get to heaven" probably isn't going to accept Christ. Someone who asks, or in any way means, "how do I stop sinning/doing wrong"? That person will probably accept Christ.
That said, the person in your example...that's the person those little pamphlets are made for. Because, as Nick suggested, they typically reject the answer and toss the pamphlet in the trash. But at least that the truth was offered them is on record.
You don't ask "how do I stop sinning/doing wrong/failing/getting hurt/suffering/etc" the way you ask for directions to the grocery store. There's no quick throwing out a few facts, hoping something sticks, before they walk away. That person is ready for a discussion.
Someone who asks how to get to heaven the way you ask how to get to the grocery store...that person I'd hand a pamphlet, if I had one, or just say, "Accept Christ."

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.

No, but I was once asked: "How do I get to Radio City Misic Hall?"
Somebody has to think that getting to Radio City Music Hall, or Heaven, is a worthwhile goal before they ask how to accomplish it. There are a lot of assumptions there.
