Sorry.. but I fail to see any reference to the 10 commandments in that verse.. to be honest, I find it to be quite the opposite. Jesus had the chance to re-state the 10 commandments.. but he refused.
Read again:
Matthew 19:16-19
New International Version (NIV)
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” he inquired.
Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[a] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’
Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
First of all...he falsely believed that he could do something "good" enough by himself apart from CHRIST, that could give him eternal life!
Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Mat 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have "I" kept from my youth up: what lack "I" yet?
If keeping the law could give someone eternal life, and a entrance into heaven. It would render CHRIST unnecessary.
These verses does not affirm anything about denying Jesus' commandments.
And here is confirmation from Jesus of keeping Ten commandments as requirement.
So you have no excuse whatsoever of your deceptive faith.
Where is the fourth one?
You see, there is a reason that Jesus only stated nine.
The fourth was ceremonial, and it proves that the ten were not the law of Christ....but, contained in the ten, are some aspects of what we should be living by if and when we walk by faith, working in love, for no one who loves would kill, steal, or etc.
We are NOT under the ten....I won't be back to this thread to argue this with you....the ten, were a part as a package contained in the law of moses/600 and some ...that no man could keep perfectly, and the law of faith working by love/ the law of Christ does not require perfection, but it does require love.
The law of moses including the ten, was not even given yet, when Abraham walked by the law of faith; working by love that also taught him to not break those nine..Jesus just mentioned, but, the law of faith working by love also has alot more to say than even those nine...remember love your enemy? Where is that in those nine?
Nowhere.
End of my post, and you can carry on with your wrong interpretation.
I wont be back to argue this, you know I left that other thread, on this because I was tired of beating the dead horse.

Take look at the bolded part. Jesus meant ten commandments.
He did not finish the whole thing because everyone knows the ten commandments. This is only common sense. You seem to be squirming.

Only to answer this post, then I am not coming back to this thread.
The 'commandments' plural are not speaking of the ten...they are speaking of the TWO that were from the BEGINNING; the ten were NOT from the beginning, as the bible states, they were added 430 years later to bring condemnation to all mankind. If you want to strive to keep ten rules, that can only condemn you, (that was it's purpose), go for it.
I know the facts..and, I uphold the commandments of Jesus, not the law of moses.
Contained in the spirit of the law/the two, is love your enemies...it was never in the law of moses/ten...if you find it there let me know, hehe. Contained in the spirit of the law is love..love teaches us how to live, the ten rules could only teach a carnal man, that he was a sinner under the carnal covenant. I am in the new covenant, and I live by the law of Christ/ the great two, called faith working by love.
