The man who shot him from an upstairs window was renting the home. This is an interesting case because the perp wasn't in the home, he was outside it. He also had not taken anything from the home, but was attempting to.

Read the rest of the article here.

To date, the shooter has not been arrested. I hope he never is. The idea of Castle Doctrine in Nevada has always been murky.

I am hoping that this will be an unprecedented case that will lead to a recognition of a citizen's right to protect his home and his family.

What are the laws where you live with regard to this type of legislation? What are your thoughts?
Why not just shout and scare to fool off? Is death really a just punishment for wanting to rob someone? Not even the Bible is that extreme.

What if it had turned out to be a meter reader or something? Or some kid looking to retrieve a hat some other kid tossed over the fence.

I'm just thinking it's a bad idea to be shooting at people just because they're in the yard. In the house is a different story. Breaking into the house is a different story.

The problem with the laws regarding these situations is that they're too vague, I think. And in that vagueness, idiocy will flourish, and sooner or later innocent people are going to be killed.

I could care less what someone like you thinks of someone like me. But hey, you're the tough guy, right? Big tough Internet big man on campus. And we're all so very impressed.

Give a few Christians some guns and a high-speed connection and we get to hear how scary and gun-ready they are. Glad to see the Nazarene's followers have their priorities straight.

P.S. Bybee, with all due respect, I wouldn't have known SOD insulted my wife (again) if you didn't respond to his post. I could have gone the whole day without reading that and without rocketman cheering him on. Even proving rocketman's a bigger cretin than I thought was not worth it.

You think it is all right to say such a thing about a man and his wife?
I do not believe we are that kind of a forum, or are we?
Does this mean that anyone can say any insulting thing about you and your loved one's and you think it is okay?
SOD has sunk beneath contempt lately. And you wish to join him?

That may be, or not. But I would not under any circumstances wish to be thought of as one of your minions.
I am biting my tongue so as not to sink to your level.
What has happened to you? You regularly hit below the belt with little or no provocation.
If your goal is to take over TOL I believe you are succeeding. Before long, most of us who believe in fair play will be gone.

For what it's worth, bybee, I have a lot more respect for your style.

I have no problem with defending oneself and ones family when necessary, and have even spent some time learning self-defense arts, I think there are a lot of people who seem a little too eager to do go to deadly force, and that these laws are often too easy a shield for them.
