Fact, no one has any real evidence to what happened either direction.

We just know now that what was portrayed as this sweet innocent kid, was not reality either.

He did _not_ get suspended for being caught with the jewelry. The suspensions he received were for lateness/tardiness, graffiti, and being found with an empty bag with marijuana residue. The jewelry was suspicious but nothing ever came of it.

None of which demonstrates that he was in any way violent.

Who was chasing whom? Who was the initial aggressor in the situation?

I agree that we have no evidence on how the violence initially got started. However, from what we do know, it does not look good for Zimmerman in my mind.

If some stranger (not a cop) was chasing me down and perhaps trying to trap me to prevent me from escaping (very possible because, by Z's own words, "these f'ers always get away"), then I myself may very well try to defend myself by throwing the first punch (which we aren't even certain one way or the other).

By being the initial aggressor, Zimmerman has an obligation to deescalate the situation and escape if he can safely do so. He no longer has the right to stand his ground.

I also find his claim that he has a reasonable fear of death or serious injury to be a bit unbelievable as well. Why would Trayvon, with no history of violence, want to seriously maim or kill someone?

I'm in no way saying we have enough evidence to convict Zimmerman, but surely we have plenty to at least arrest him and take this to a trial (unless there is something that has not yet been revealed that puts the whole situation in a completely different light).

Oh, so it is a black thing, well that line of thinking is also profoundly ignorant. I wonder, if it is a black man shooting a hispanic man is that also racist? The profound ignorance is to attach race to this incident at all, I guess you are easily duped by the media hype or just easy pickins for pop culture mantra's.

The racist issue comes into play due to Zimmerman initially chasing Trayvon down because he was "suspicious". Study after study has shown that people are much more likely to consider blacks to be suspicious compared to others with lighter skin who are engaging in the exact same activities. This is important because everyone agrees that had Zimmerman stayed in his SUV and/or did not find Trayvon to be so suspicious, Trayvon would still be alive today.

There have been numerous incidents in the past several decades of innocent blacks being harassed or having crimes committed against them because they appeared to be "suspicious".

It was OK for Zimmerman to call the cops to report a suspicious person if he wanted to. NOT OK to get out of your SUV while armed and chase down the suspicious person (unless perhaps you see them in the act of committing a crime, which everyone agrees Zimmerman did not see).

Interesting post, maybe you should reread it, your line of thinking is quite racist.

Interesting article that examines several holes in Zimmerman's story and other good questions:

4. The 180 degree body
If the teen was kneeling, presumably, on top of George Zimmerman, punching him or slamming his head into the concrete walkway between the facing backyards, how did Trayvon wind up lying face down with HIS feet on the sidewalk and his face in the grass? If Zimmerman's account is true, shouldn't Trayvon's body have wound up with his face toward the sidewalk and his feet in the grass? Even if, after the gunshot, Trayvon fell on top of Zimmerman and the larger man pushed him off, why didn't the body land face up, beside Zimmerman, rather than a 180 degree turn from the sidewalk -- and flipped over?

You consider facts to be racist? Quite bizzare and incoherent. People can be racist. Facts can not be.

Armchair investigation into this matter without any facts except those given by the media is quite premature. This is, and will be sorted out by people that do have all the facts. Quoting media sites supposed evidence shows that many in our country rush to judgement without data. Data is king...the rest is just hype.

Your facts are based on the media are they not? quit being such a sucker for the hype and let the law sort out the facts, there is a reason Zimmerman has not been charged. If he is in error then it will sort itself out. Remember, Trayvan may also be guilty, have you given that any thought or are you just consuming whatever you are fed. Wise up!

I've listened to several of the 911 calls, including Zimmerman's, and have read the actual police reports. Additionally, there are several things that are not disputed by anyone. These are the facts I'm using.

The reason for the public outrage and the media attention is because the case was dropped and no charges were filed. The only reason the investigation has resumed is because of this. The known facts surely warrant an arrest and through investigation (in contrast to the sloppy investigation that was conducted before the public and media attention).

Additionally, the post where I commented about racism was not from the media, but from my own knowledge of history and academic research.

Are you an investigator on the case? I venture to say no, so, it is impossible for you, Joe citizen to have all the facts in this case. A police report is only preliminary and you should know that, as I said before, there is a reason Zimmerman has not been charged thus far. I am saying you and many other Americans feed on the hype and rush to judgement. You seem educated and if you are you should not be sold without all the data. You may be right, if so great, but don't convict this man in the court of public opinion, let the law do what it does best, gleen the truth from all the facts. After all you would want the same presumption of innocence if you were being accused of a crime.

Gun shots dont necessarily turn people off like a light switch, the guy might have crawled somewhat.

I think the neighborhood watch guy was a dork, he should have introduced himself politely as the neighborhood watch, explained that he didn't recognize him and asked the guy if he minded saying what he was doing. The Treyvon kid could have politely answered and its settled, or not, then the watch guy could call the cops. I don't think he should have got out of his car at all, and I don't believe he got out of his car nearby the kid to innocently look at a street sign, and even if so, what kind of stupid would he be to turn his back on the kid? Wait till the kid is out of the area to straighten the sign post. I wasn't there, I'm probably at least a little off on this, but that's my take on it for now, and I'm up late, just bored enough to post my thoughts here.
