B57 are you related to a guy on another forum that went by the moniker, Savedbygrace57??? He believed the way you do. I had trouble with him as well...
No, but you are related to this guy that I have trouble with all the time ! Acts 13:10
10And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
Rom 2:28-29
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
If you would read what went on between these two kings of Israel, you might have a clearer understanding of what exactly is being said.
Your quote isn't teaching Christians to hate those who hate the Lord, it's talking about making alliances with the ungodly. We're to come out from among them and be separate....not enjoying or engaging with those of the world, to include the lusts and the pride of life.
Jesus told us to "hate" our mothers and fathers, too....do you think He meant we should hate them? He was talking about "in comparison" to loving God, we should love our parents "less" than we love God. Not that we should hate them. Luke 14:26
To Love those that Hate the Lord is a sin for the Christian 2 Chron 19:2
2And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, "Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love those who hate the LORD?[No] Therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
Rom 2:28-29
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
A True Believer should not as much as pray for one who is preaching and teaching a false gospel, but are commanded to wish them accursed Gal 1:8-9
8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
The word accursed here in the greek means:anathema:
thing set up or laid by in order to be kept
a) specifically, an offering resulting from a vow, which after being consecrated to a god was hung upon the walls or columns of the temple, or put in some other conspicuous place
2) a thing devoted to God without hope of being redeemed, and if an animal, to be slain; therefore a person or thing doomed to destruction
a) a curse
b) a man accursed, devoted to the direst of woes
Also in the greek Paul is issuing out a Imperative Let them be accursed, let them be without hope of redemption.
Now if Paul Loved these men, why did he not command the believers of Galatia to pray for those preachers, to pray that God would save them ? I know why, because he knew they were children of the devil without any hope of redemption, as Jesus intimated to these Matt 23:32-33
32Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
You really think Christ loved those men ? Ain't no way in the world !
Rom 2:28-29
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

beloved57, if you will not openly profess that you are a Christian, then no one should take anything you say to heart. I will not take anything you say seriously until you answer this question: are you a Christian?
Are you saved? Are you going to Heaven? Are you of the Elect? Are you a Christian? Can you say Jesus is THE Lord??
Don't worry about me ! This I do know Acts 13:10

You seem to be making accusation everyone who dont agree with you personally and you tell everyone else what they say is none of their business?

So what,it is not his business or yours. Deal with my threads !

Of course David lived under the Law with an eye for an eye. He fought battles for God, and his "perfect hatred" was that of a warrior. David lived before Christ brought us a fuller understanding of God's love for sinful man. Now, God's "enemies" are those who are in need of the Gospel, and we're commanded to preach the good news to them.
I'm curious as to why you need to rely on the OT to prove we're to hate those who hate God. Where are the calls to "hate" found in the NT? Perfect hatred sounds good to me, though. I'll admit to that, especially when I hear someone claiming God chooses certain people for no other reason than for His own good pleasure. That kind of slander against the character of God does bring out a tinge of "Perfect Hatred." Yep, I like that....it's growing on me. Usually it's called "righteous indignation" or something, but that just doesn't quite get it.

I don't see how you can think Jesus "intimated" there was no hope of redemption. You get that from a dictionary...not by what's written in the verses you quote. By asking, "how", He knew there was a way - repentance. Repentance works wonders.
