I thought about all your posts to me.
I have prayed about this and I must share this.
We have conversed publicly, so I will keep this public.
I am not ashamed to admit this to you meshak, because I know that you care for me, my friend.
I want Jesus to be my Lord.
But I don't know how to do it.
Can you please teach me how to be obedient to Jesus ?
I feel very afraid, because I am not really a follower of Him.
I felt like I was, but I feel convicted of my sin, because of your care for me, and your patience.
Can you help me, my friend ?
How can Jesus really be my Lord, what must I do ?
Kindest regards,
-Jedidiah E.
Thank you Jedi for you honesty and I know it takes great humbleness to admit when we are wrong. I have been changing my mentality to Jesus' ways and since then it is not so big of a deal when I am wrong and admitting about it in public.
I know you just took first big step to grow in Jesus by this discovery.
Jesus teaches and commands what we should be doing in all His statements in the New Testament, and most of them are in sermon on the mount. They are not hard to understand but hard to practice because He tells us to be holy, righteous and godly in everything we do. And most of us if not all are so selfish, so it is hard to change and give up our old way of living.
Please take time reading all His statements. It will take for a while to sink in because we are so used to live in worldly way of living and mentality.
But once you understand that Jesus is expecting His followers to aim for perfection in all our aspects of our lives, it will get so easy to understand Him.
I have to give you a caution: if you are not willing to give up everything for Him, you will not understand Him and you will distort and twist all His hard teachings to avoid changing.
All His teachings and commandments are summarized in two commandments; love God and love your neighbor as yourself.
May God bless you mightily for His glory. You are the very first one to asked me this kind question in my forum life.
I have been giving this kind of messages very often but I did not notice anyone took it seriously, but rather I got mocked and ridiculed.
Thank you Jedi for you honesty and I know it takes great humbleness to admit when we are wrong.
It is a relief that you have said this, friend.

It sure feels like a big deal to me, I look forward to it not being so big of a deal like you are now.

Quite of few things that Jesus taught in the sermon on the mount seem very hard to understand though.

I don't want to be selfish anymore, I want to give up my old way of living.
With your help I pray that I can.

Some of what Jesus taught seems so hard to do, but it is good to aim for perfection.

I am willing.
I do not want to distort or twist Jesus' hard teachings.
I want to change.

I am happy because I am sure that Jesus has sent you here for me, to help me to follow Jesus and obey everything Jesus commands me to do.

I read Mt5:11-12 today and thought of you, my friend.
You are too humble to think you need my help. You just took reap of faith and now the Holy Spirit will help you mightily for sure. Just keep reading Jesus' word. Forget about other books for a while until you have confidence about what it takes to be obedient to Jesus. After you get grasp of being obedient to Jesus, the rest of the Bible is not so hard to understand.
What I did when I became his follower for the first time, I strived to change my worldy mentality and practice. If you have unhealthy addiction or habit, concentrate on getting rid of them.
I still have long, long way to go to have fruit of spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self control. These are very hard to achieve for everyone and it is life long endeavor. So dont get discouraged when you dont see much of improvement of fruit of spirit.
I am so excited for you Jedi.
We pray for each other to grow in Jesus powerfully.
"Reap of faith?" is that Japanese for "leap of faith?" I could not resist.

Wow, so you have to strive for this so called perfection before your acceptable to Christ? Does this not conflict with scripture?
Rom. 5:8 But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom. 5:9 ¶ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.

You could have it right now if you would just accept the Gospel and give up your folly of striving for that which Jesus Christ did in your behalf. You Fail Meshak

This seems like very good advice meshak, thank you.
I was worried about where to begin with Jesus' teaching, and you helped me focus on the sermon on the mount.
I am just going to read Jesus' words until I grasp being obedient to Him for now.

This really makes sense to me, my friend.
I really understand this.
It is like, throw away what is broken so you can have a clean home to live in.
How long did it take you to change, worldly mentality and practice ?
It seems like it will take me forever.

So it must be that learning obedience to Jesus leads to the fruit of spirit.
But is a life long endeavor, this makes sense too.
