And I note you chose to cowardly refute my OP, on a thread which does not contain my OP.

In other words, you were too afraid to confront me in front of an audience.

So since you have been so kind as to copy my work against my wishes to this thread, I shall copy your 'work' on the post immediately above, together with the refutation thereof by myself, to my thread where it belongs: "Understanding the covering of 1 Cor 11".

Colossians, there is no need for me to engage with you when you are unwilling to learn. You are free to copy any of my posts anywhere, with attribution, in accordance with the law of reasonable use, just as I am free to copy yours. Your stated desire not to be copied is just hot air. You have been told already that your restriction on copying is against the law but yet again, you are unwilling to learn this. On this thread, people are at least discussing the issue, which is a lot more than you have been doing on your thread. You're an embarassment. There is nothing more to say.

Desert,

Rather, it is you who are parasiting off my work by toggling back and forth from my thread to this, running back to my exposition to obtain the next bit of information, and then not giving acknowledgement of such on this thread.

The point I have made stands:

v9 is the preface for v10. V10's "power" then refers primarily to power over the woman, and not the feminist version you have come up with.

You certainly are no theologian.

If you wish to attempt to refute what I have said, then do so on the thread I have said it on. And stop trying to cloud the issue with copywrite rubbish: that is a straw man.

I refer posters to post 120 (page 8) of this thread, which refutes poster "Desert Reign's" idea that the power on the woman spoken of at 1 Cor 11:10, does not mean power over her.

And I have copied post 120, to my own thread: "Understanding the covering of 1 Cor 11".

If God wants us to wear them, I think we should be wearing them or not if we shouldnt be, but i would like to understand this entire passage better so im posting this thread for discussion on it.

I particularly would like to understand verse #10 about the angels, it seems out of place in the passage...

Anyway here is the entire passage on it for reference.

Thoughts?
If woman need to keep their heads covered then they also need to be kept quiet. While your at it they need to be restricted to being barefoot and pregnant with only the bedroom and the kitchen made available for them however they can have 2 breaks a day for bathroom use.

Overcoming the letter of the word a.k.a. a literal interpretation of the Scriptures as one the most daunting tasks for those who are hearing the call to worship in spirit and in truth.

Unlocking the allegories allows us to see the different types and shadow for the word “woman”. While a woman may be just that in the Scriptures, its use as a word also refers to the church, to Jerusalem, and to the soul within an individual. All of the above "women" are to be subject to the spirit from above who is the father of us, all and is definitely male who is the covering for the woman.

The woman is to have her head covered in the same way that the soul who is a woman is to have the Holy Spirit who is male for a covering.

There is some confusion in the Scriptures in regard to identifying the gender of the spirit. OTOH the soul is always a feminine term and is female of gender as far as the original languages go. Identification of the spirit can be more confusing because it made be either male or it can be gender free in the same way that the male seed can produce either male or female even though it came from a male.

Blessings

Doug

What do you think on account of the angels means?

It doesn't mean that any slave or any woman can become a leader but it does mean that none of them should be barred from leadership or made to undergo some kind of purification to rid them of the ignominy supposedly associated with their status. Making a woman wear a veil just because she is a woman is that kind of prejudice. In Galatians, the issue was making non-Jews undergo circumcision but it is the same issue with women and veils. The gospel sets us free from prejudice because God loves us all as much as each other and if God loves us all equally in Christ then we are not in a position to refuse that love to others.

What do you think the angel part of the passage in question means also?

This is what Colossians thinks of women:

Quote:
The Lord has now added breast cancer to Joni’s suffering. The Lord is good.
This explains the T in TULIP (my parody of it) as in my signature below.

There is a plausible explanation here.

A perhaps less plausible one (in my view).

A much more erudite explanation is here. But the language is very technical. In summary, in 2 Cor 3:18, it is assumed that believers do not have veils on their faces because they reflect the glory of God. And then in Matt 18:10 Jesus refers to angels being uncovered in the presence of God. So "because of the angels" might refer to that, i.e. it would be unthinkable to go veiled in the presence of God when the angels who are watching over you and interceding for you, themselves are uncovered. This explanation doesn't really conflict with the first one above but the result is the exact opposite, namely that women should not be covered in church.

In summary, no one really knows.

Another point to bear in mind is that when Paul says "we have no such custom in all the churches of God", what custom is he referring to? He is obviously referring to the custom of wearing the tallith.

Desert,

This is what Colossians thinks of women:
"The Lord has now added breast cancer to Joni’s suffering. The Lord is good."

Rather, this is how you engage in misrepresentation and attempt to get the sister club to back you up, thus showing us you are not under the authority of Jesus Christ, and also showing us you're one of the men these days who panders to women and who is therefore rightly deemed to be one of "the enemy within".
"Ye shall know them by their fruits"

The more I engage you fellows, the more I'm convinced you are not born again: you're simply too dark in your mannerisms for the children of light. The one exception, is possibly poster "Godrulz", attested to by the fact that most of you ostracise him, thus telling him he's in the wrong camp.

Hello A4T

Angels are messengers and the Lord uses them to minister to his sons and daughters. Because angels minister to women just as they do to men, woman need to be given the authority to speak and share what they have been shown from above, the same as men do within the church.

Blessings

Doug

There is nothing more shamefull than the woman speaking for the family and the man silent when interviewed by the press.

Even more shameful is when men speak for Christ when He has not spoken.

While I can't be certain, I doubt if he takes all that much comfort in your endorsement.
