Me thinketh there are two questions you could answer.

oatmeal

Evidently both Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul were Pentecostal.

So back to my two questions

1. What's holdin' ya back?

2. What are you gonna do 'bout it?

Yes, Jesus Christ foretold it.

The first century church did it.

It is still available.

And as powerful as it was in the first century.

Ok,

DID YOU READ THE OP?

DID YOU READ THE SCRIPTURES PROVIDED?

WHO ARE YOU CALLING CHARLATANS?

A. JESUS CHRIST

B. THE APOSTLE PAUL

C. A AND B

YOU MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT THAT!

So, your answers to my two questions are what?

Meshak,

could you provide a scripture where Paul says it is a requirement for salvation?

Look at Mark 16:17 again.

"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;"

Does Jesus Christ teach that it is a requirement for salvation?

No, not at all.

Note that it speaks of those that are already believers.

One of the signs that will follow them that believe.

Some one mispoke somewhere.

Nowhere in scripture does it teach that speaking in tongues is a requirement for salvation.

Actually, the reverse is true.

You must be saved first, then and only then are you able to speak in tongues.

It is a sign that you believe.

oatmeal

It's good for you.

Guyver,

Pentecostal?

that is not a name I subscribe to.

Although the speaking in tongues in their meetings is genuine, God, by way of Paul in I Corinthians 14 shows how ungodly and foolish their antics are.

If there foolish antics are all a person knows about speaking in tongues, I really could blame those from shying away from speaking in tongues.

The Corinthian believers were genuinely speaking in tongues but they added many foolish antics.

Paul reproves them quite strongly.

One verse that reproves their error is

I Corinthians 14:23

"If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?"

However, for those who read I Corinthians 14 to educate themselves, and apply what is taught, they do not bring shame to themselves.

Paul exhorts(not commands) us to do lots of things which are good, but not requirements for salvation.
