So, keypurr, the Jews picked up the stones to cast at Jesus just because they thought he was offending their sensitivities or because they did understand that Jesus was saying that He was God?

“Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am” (Jn 8:58).

That our Lord by this expression asserted his divinity and eternal existence as the great I AM, appears evident from the use of the present tense, instead of the preter, from its being in answer to the Jews, who inquired whether he had seen Abraham, and from its being thus understood by the multitude, who were exasperated at it to such a degree that they took up stones to stone him. The ancient Jews not only believed that the Messiah was superior to and Lord of all the patriarchs, even of angels (see Yalkut Simeoni on Is. 52:13. Bereshith Rabba on Ge. 28:10. Zohar, Gen. fol. 88), but that his celestial nature existed with God, from whom it emanated before the Creation (Netzach Israel, c. 35, fol. 38), and that creation was effected by his ministry (Zohar, l. fol. 128, on Ge. 49:11). Is. 44:6, 8; Is. 48:12; Re. 1:8; Jn. 4:26; Jn. 13:19; Jn. 18:5, 6.

“Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by” (John 8:59)

This action on the part of these Jewish hearers demonstrates that they understood Jesus to be making claim to deity. (Jn. 10:30-33; Jn. 11:8; Lk. 13:34).

Jesus told them he was the SON of GOD, they related that to him saying he was God.

The Messiah is foretold to be a prophet, a servant of God. Not equal to or Higher than God.

The action of the Jews showed that that had no clue who the Son of God is. That is why they put him on the cross.

Mat 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
Mat 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mar 14:61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
Mar 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

See, they knew he was the Son but they thought that made him God. They were wrong, I hope you do not want to follow them.

Went to Sunday School longer? Have been through your Bible more times? Have better teachers? Have better material?

Why do you insist, after I'm more than sure, enough doubt is given, do you, about .4% of the Christian community, many of whom have no more than a high school education or GED equivalent, do you insist? Why do you come to a triune board to platform or stand on the TOL corner with your sign (the same painted one here)? What is it all really about? Can you tell me? You know my answer. I am losing the point of it all. You won't listen and will turn it right around, without any of it for back-up and say it is me. I know you have special verses all your own you cling desperately to to block me out and champion your valued theology against me. I have no idea how to get through to you and am starting to lose a reason for doing it.

THE TRINITY
The characteristically Christian doctrine about God. It declares that there is only one true God; that this God is three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, each of whom is distinct from, yet interrelated with, the others; and that all three persons are fully, equally and eternally divine.

TRINITY, RELATIONSHIPS. BETWEEN THE PERSONS
The actual term “the Trinity” is not found in Scripture, but the truths implied in a trinitarian understanding of God are clearly set out. The OT hints at a plurality of persons in the Godhead. The NT affirms that the Son and the Holy Spirit are divine.

WAS HE GOD? I THINK NOT.
The problem with trinitarianism is that they ignore those scriptures.

They never look at, let alone discuss those verses.

Those that reject the trinity do look at the verses that trinitarians claim support their beliefs.

Those verses are always misaligned and taken out of context and mangled. Even the words in the verses are mangled and mashed into meaninglessness.

Oh, well, that's their problem, not ours.
