You have levelled some serious charges here. And would you please show me where the scripture states that if you don't believe the Bible to be inerrant you cannot be a Christian?
Inerrant, infallible...
I believe the bible is here the way it is, with the books it has in it, because God has deemed so.

I thought it was pretty obvious. You were quite clear about it.
I believe that the Universe is one being, all its parts are different expressions of the same energy,
and they are all in communication with each other, therefore parts of one organic whole.
This whole is in all its parts so beautiful, and is felt by me to be so intensely in earnest, that I am compelled to love it and to think of it as divine

Terms must be defined. I'm sure Guyver would oblige were you to ask him what he meant by the term, but it isn't overly relevant since he simply used it as an example, not a personal belief.
"If a sheerly linguistic version of the gospel could be concocted, it would merely so be no longer the gospel. In the Lutheran Reformation’s understanding, which we believe in this matter to be correct, the sacraments make the inalienable externality of the gospel message and therefore are necessary to the authenticity of that message." I'd say it constitutes the greatest story ever told and involves all aspects of human existence (not just the historical aspect, for example).

Actually you are wrong on both counts. I used inerrant and you did dodge it.
So, let's clear it up. I define inerrant to mean - without error.
Would you accept that definition? Inerrancy means that there is not the slightest error in the Bible whatsoever. Not a misspelled word, not an incorrect fact, not a contradiction.
That's inerrant. Without a single error.
Now you said that unless a person believes the Bible to be inerrant they cannot be a Christian.
Will you please state where you get this idea, what is the basis for this notion, and stop dodging this particular question?

If you insist.
I suppose I shouldn't have limited it to human existence though, since it goes a bit beyond that. What are your own thoughts on the topic?

Try: The purpose of the thread should be to discuss what people believe about the Bible, based upon what the bible says of itself, i.e., what saith the scripture, about the scripture? If not, then it's merely an excercise of "my opinion" vs. yours-I'd rather watch Oprah-at least there are some good lookin' chics on there ocassionally.

Well, that is your opinion. And I'm really happy to see you expressing your opinion in a cogent fashion.
This thread is open. So you are certainly welcome to present your argument as to why your opinion is valid and right. And I hope you will do so.
If opinions are no good John, then please explain what is good and why you think it so.

I would like to refrain from answering that until I know from someone who believes in Bible inerrancy what exactly they mean by that and why they believe it.
