Luther believed in once saved always saved, ws the first heretic to teach that lie

The Church, as we all know, did NOT accept his interpretation of Scirpture... which is more a distortion and disfiguration than interpretation but ...

anyhow...

there is no gray area here

either u belive as the Original Church taught or you are with Luther:

wrong

as we can see, the Church was also the first to call it heresy

so the Chuch calls Luther a heretic

Luther implies that the Church is heretical...

so we can believe Luther, Human being, now deceased...

or we can believe a Church that Jesus said the devil himself cannot destry

Mt 16:18-25

Luther was right. He exposed the church's faults. You are in darkness.

Psalm 1[/color] and Job 28:28

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Joh 4:23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

I love the God of my Lord Jesus Christ

Luther complained against the Church's practice of selling salvation.

The great Reformer, Martin Luther, is one who firmly believed in fiducia, assurance of salvation. He sternly rebuked the religious system of the Middle Ages for its edifice of penance, indulgences, and on-again, off-again salvation which robbed people of their confidence in Jesus Christ. However, Luther did not believe in “once saved, always saved.”

“Although Luther agreed that the merits of Christ were the sole basis of a man’s justification, and that it did not depend in any way on a man’s deeds, Luther still thought that a man could lose his justification if he totally and finally turned away from Christ. Since God’s gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life was appropriated by faith, if a man decided not to rest his eternal destiny in Christ, and totally turned against Him, Luther believed that only then would a man lose his salvation. In other words, the only sin that Luther thought would cause a man to lose his salvation was the sin of unrepentant apostasy” (Catholics and Protestants: Do They Now Agree?, John Ankerberg and John Weldon).

Actually, since we cannot lose eternal life, as the scripture teaches, and we are supposed to know that we have eternal life once we do have it.

It is the RCC that is in error.

I John 5:11-14

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:"

Read it and believe it.

Truth sets men free.

John 8:32

The protestant church is actually quite split on the issue;

Luther and Arminians tending towards, apostasy being possible.

Those of a Calvinistic leaning heading towards OSAS.

I think the issue is that TSF was insulting Luther for something he didn't believe. Actually thats not rare on this forum

So the Cross has its limitations?

Does Jesus need to repeatedly die on the Cross to keep re-saving us? How often, once a year?

Thank you for that information. I was not aware of the exact belief of Luther or others.

However, I do believe that scripture is very clear on the subject.

There was a time before our sins were paid for by Jesus Christ.

There is a time after our sins were paid for by Jesus Christ.

OT believers looked forward to that time.

The scriptures are clear.

I actually believe the scriptures are not clear, that is why people interpret them in different ways.

Some scripture allude to OSAS very strongly, others imply apostasy is possible.

What most protestant agree on eternal security based on the works of Christ and not our own actions. Which isn't quite the same as OSAS.
