Thumbs up Marriage Amendment passes in North Carolina - May 9th, 2012, 08:22 AM

Good news: an amendment in North Carolina defining marriage to be between one man and one woman has passed with approximately 61% of voters in favor.

Quote:
North Carolina is the 30th state to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Six states — all in the Northeast except Iowa — and the District of Columbia allow same sex marriages. In addition, two other states have laws that are not yet in effect and may be subject to referendums.

In the Lutheran Reformation’s understanding, which we believe in this matter to be correct, the sacraments make the inalienable externality of the gospel message and therefore are necessary to the authenticity of that message." Its a sad day for Christianity when it sinks so low as to try and use the law to enforce something that has only become necessary due to their apathy.

It's a sadder day when someone who calls himself a Christian defends something that God detests.

I expect nothing less from a state south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Im not defending anything.

If we were out there witnessing and tending to the flock (instead of hiding in our homes and letting our pastors do our work) and building relationships, this issue would never have come up and the law 'clarifying' what should already be accepted would not be necessary.

And now that non-christians tend to outnumber Christians, and the way that this countries courts go... I expect this new amendment to never get implemented.. it will get stopped immediately in the courts as unconstitutional.

Basically, all this law does is make it harder to win people for Christ.

GOOD NEWS MY FOOT ! Laws like this are not only totally unnecessary, they are in fact nothing but a smokescreen for the real agenda of the homophobes - denying rights to gay Americans and ultimately persecuting them.
They will open up the slippery slope toward gradually chipping away at the rights of gay people in America .
Marriage does not need ot be defended . People who say that allowing same sex marriage is sure to lead toward legalizing oincest, pedophilia, bigamy and bestiality are IDIOTS !!!!!!!!
Long ago, many Americans were horrified by the idea of allowing blacks ot vote. They were just as opposed to this as many Americans are to allowing homoexuals to have marriage priveleges.
Until 1920, the suffragettes were vilified by the many who believed that women were not fit to vote, and many were arrested for protesting in public and even spent time in jail for having the temerity to demand that women be allowed to vote .
Until recently, some states had miscegenation laws , and blacks and whites could not marry .
But did giving the vote to all and allowing people to marry regardles s of skin color lead to the downfall of America as so many
stupidly predicted ? Of ocurse not.
There are still some U.S. states where it's technically legal for employers to fire someone merely for being homosexual, and many hospitals do not allow partners of gay people to visit them.
Are these laws fair ?

This is a sad day indeed. The most incredible argument against this amendment came from an African American minister.

That line has nothing to do with what you are claiming. Keep showing you don't know what happened, nor what is happening in America.
