Wasn't sure what I thought of it. The lead reminded me of the second Superman actor, but he got better and whoever the fellow is that plays the wolf (whatever they call it) and the real partnership between him and the Grimm got me hooked. They just need to get rid of his police partner or make him engaged and interesting, poor doofus.

Once Upon a Time
Only watched because the wife made me and thought it was so-so at first. The show has gotten better by episode. And while I'm still rooting against Charming Robert Carlyle's "Mr. Gold" keeps me interested. I think he gives the show a great deal of its emotional credibility.

Awake [cancelled]
A great idea and a fine actor, but the writers let both down. When I realized the "big secret" that had his captain under thumb was a drug deal and not some over arching reveal that would tie the two worlds in his head together/explanation I left the show.

Brilliant, but too often sad and lost for me.

I almost hate this show as much as I like it. But I'm watching.

Quote:
Warehouse 13
Couldn't follow it. The male lead was written like a dumber version of Sealy Booth from Bones and the female lead had two facial expressions for most of the first season. That was enough for me.

Quote:
Eureka
One of those shows I've watched but always felt a bit embarrassed about watching. Jo and Carter are the show for me and always have been. I think the late in the day twist on them is making the finale a bit more interesting.

I liked it, but is it coming back? More potential than realized so far. Fine casting.

Quote:
Burn Notice
Loved the first few seasons but struggled the last one. It needs a resolution of that first thin plot thread and a move into something else or I'm through with it.

Quote:
The Glades
One of my favorite off mainstream channels show. I don't know when it's coming back or when. Great chemistry between the two leads, but I hope they don't make the romantic will they/won't they important to the show.

Quote:
I quit watching many shows within the last year, because they were formulaic and tired, or for other reasons; CSI [all 3], NCIS [both], House, Law & Order [all 3 that were on at the time], Criminal Minds...
Gave up Criminal minds because of the way the show dealt with two of its leads AND I got tired of the show's habit of killing off a few innocent people after we got the point. Just too dark in that regard. The first murder clued us, thanks.

I tried watching Person of Interest, Veep, Girls, and a few others, but didn't like them enough to keep going.

Quote:
I watched some shows that got cancelled after one season, this year, like Alcatraz, and The Finder. I enjoyed them both very much.
Never saw Alcatraz, but the Finder's casting didn't work for me.

Quote:
I also watch Dexter, and have read all the books.
Had an idea for a novel I talked about for over twenty years. A serial killer who kills serial killers. When Dexter came out I got a great number of phone calls asking if I had a new pen name. Well, my idea won't be as novel now, but I'll still write it before long, now that I'm writing. But it still gives me an enormous pain.

I like Burn Notice. I was looking forward to Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, but it looks like that one's not gonna happen.

I know that I am in the minority here, but the joy for me (to borrow from Thoreau) is in the journey. I enjoy the plot and the character development and the twists and turns of the story. The ending is irrelevant.

I am the same way with books. In fact, I often read the last chapter of a book before starting at the beginning. I want the ending out of the way so that I can enjoy the journey.

LOST is a perfect example. I am in the middle of season 5, and I have heard by many that they GREATLY disliked the ending of the series in season 6. This makes no difference to me, because I already know what happens. I have read about the ending extensively, and it has changed nothing with regard to my enjoyment of the series.

Ok, I'm done now. I doubt that any think the way I do, but I wanted to throw it out there.

I don't have cable, so my options are Netflix or free TV.

Free TV is awful. About the only things I watch on the free networks are on PBS. And my local PBS station doesn't have much money, so even that's pretty limited. There is nothing on the NBC, ABC, CBS, or FOX that interests me. I will occasionally watch Big Bang Theory if I stumble on it, but even that's barely worth tolerating the endless mind-insulting commercials on "free" TV.

There have been some series shows that I watched on Netflix (without commercials) that I really liked:

Doc Martin
The Killing
Weeds
Detroit 187
Sons of Anarchy
Life
Saving Grace
Downton Abby
Firefly
Galactica

And some were tolerable but not something I especially looked forward to watching, like:

The Glades
Burn Notice
Damages
Outcasts
Chicago Code
The Tudors

Mostly I just watch movies on Netflix.

Ok, I see your point. BUT...I still enjoy the initial movie(s). I go about my day pretending that the other "movies" never happened.

Normally I wait for the DVD's but I got impatient this season and have watched every episode of Mad Men on Sunday nights.

Now I'm waiting for season two of Boardwalk Empire to get released on disc. I devoured season one.
