Though born again, sin nevertheless remains a relationship with our flesh that must be overcome by obedience to the Life of Christ within us. cf Rev. chapters 2 and 3.
Fixed it. You have not been resurected into a glorified body (born again). When (if) you are, then you will no longer covet or sin. In this body we all have now, nothing good in it dwells. That is true.

Well, that's too bad. I always thought the born again were indwelt by the Holy Spirit__just like the disciples were here:
"And when He said this, He breathed on them and said: "Receive the Holy Spirit".
That's in the gospel of John, Chapter twenty verse twenty two. I was lead to believe the disciples at this point were the first. Was I wrong about that?

Does that have to happen before one dies?
Or can it happen to one after they are dead and buried?

One cannot see the kingdom unless they have been born again.
John 3 KJV
(3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
When did Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets get breathed on and told to receive the Holy Spirit?
Luke 13 KJV
(28) There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Does that have to happen before one dies?
Or can it happen to one after they are dead and buried?
It must happen before one dies. All decisions for Christ must be done before death. All done to Christians by Christ and for Christ must be accomplished before one dies.
Remember that famous well worn saying: dead means dead? Well, this is when it is absolutely true.

Very true.
Quote:

They never received the Holy Spirit. All influence by the Holy Spirit was external. "And the Lord spoke to Abraham. . . "
Seeing the kingdom and entering it are not one in the same. Jesus said that "Abraham saw My day and was glad". The kingdom of God is also the kingdom of His dear son, Jesus Christ. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob saw it but died with but the promise of entering. The Kingdom of God is both now, a "reality", and future, the "actual" coming of it to Earth by the return of Jesus Christ. It is that "actuality" which Jesus was referring in Luke 13.

Luke 13 KJV

The Holy Spirit was given for the purpose of establishing the Church of Jesus Christ.
You must remember that Abraham is said to be the father of all who have faith; who have believed in Jesus Christ. Having pointed that out, did Abraham, Isaac or Jacob perform any miracles in the Name of the Lord? They didn't. Their time upon Earth was for the establishing and proving of faith to be understood by us as the means of pleasing God; bringing His favor to us and our gaining access to Him. Their faithfulness to God for this purpose brought to them and furthered the Promises of God from their lives to future generations. For this they have been accorded righteousness as that of Jesus Christ.
I don't believe that can be argued with__but we'll see, won't we?

So, you are saying one has to be born again before they die.
And you are saying that "receiving the Holy Spirit" is how one is born again?
Quote:
They never received the Holy Spirit.
Then, according to you, they were never born again, and could never "see" the kingdom of God.
For one CANNOT see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.
Quote:
Seeing the kingdom and entering it are not one in the same.
Oh. So those "born again" can "see" the kingdom of God, but not be in the kingdom of God?
For Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are in the kingdom of God.
when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God (Luke 13:28)
I guess they can be in the kingdom of God without seeing the kingdom of God.
And who are these that get to join Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom? Are they born again?
Matthew 8 KJV
(11) And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
Quote:

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob saw
Saw what?
The kingdom of God?
If one cannot "see" the kingdom of God unless they have been born again, then how did they "see" it?
Does that have to happen before one dies?

One cannot see the kingdom unless they have been born again.

I love this kind of twirling of the SWORD!!

---Gal. 4:16.
---"Am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth"???
So, you are saying one has to be born again before they die.
And you are saying that "receiving the Holy Spirit" is how one is born again?
Yes. I gave you John 20:22. Check it out as I referred to it as the evidence.
Quote:
Then, according to you, they were never born again, and could never "see" the kingdom of God.
I explained all that. Pay attention. Jesus said: "Abraham saw My day and was glad". If he saw Jesus he saw the kingdom of God. Jesus is the kingdom. He is the summation of all the Law and the Prophets as well.
Quote:
Oh. So those "born again" can "see" the kingdom of God, but not be in the kingdom of God?
It isn't easily entered into. Jesus said the violent take it by force. who are the violent but those who see it and know they must possess it. Have you seen it? Do you even want to see it.
Quote:
For Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are in the kingdom of God.
I explained all that as well. Re-read my post again, __for the first time.
Quote:

I guess they can be in the kingdom of God without seeing the kingdom of God.
I don't know what you are trying to say. Take a deep breath and try again.

Talk to letsargue. I don't have the stomach for insincerity and unlearned questions..

Matthew 8 KJV

Right on.
[quote]Saw what?

John 3 KJV
(3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(4) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? (5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
(6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Is verse 5 also speaking of being born again, or something entirely different?
I do that with folk who really don't want to know. Insincere people who raise rabbits for folk like me to chase. I won't do it.
Soooooo, are you going to continue to assert that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob SAW the kingdom without being born again?
Scripture says that one CANNOT see the kingdom unless they are born again.
Either Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob saw the kingdom of God, and thus were born again; or, they were not born again and could not have seen the kingdom of God.
And don't forget about verse 5.
Either being born of water and of the Spirit is speaking of being born again, or it is speaking of something entirely different than being born again.
What say ye?
