Was the Roman Catholic Church given authority to change the Sabbath? -

Here are some statements made by Catholic clergy regarding the Sabbath and their authority to change what God set from Creation. Here are some quotes with their sources:
"It was the Catholic church which...has transferred this rest to Sunday in remembrance of the resurrection of our Lord. Therefore the observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the (Catholic) church." Monsignor Louis Segur, Plain Talk About Protestantism of Today, p. 213.
"Sunday is our mark of authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact." Catholic Record of London, Ontario, September 1, 1923.
"Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. 'The day of the Lord' was chosen, not from any direction noted in the scriptures, but from the Catholic church's sense of its own power...People who think that the scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy." St. Catherine Church Sentinel, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995.
"All of us believe many things in regard to religion that we do not find in the Bible. For example, nowhere in the Bible do we find that Christ or the Apostles ordered that the Sabbath be changed from Saturday to Sunday. We have the commandment of God given to Moses to keep holy the Sabbath Day, that is the 7th day of the week, Saturday. Today most Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the Church outside the Bible." The Catholic Virginian, "To Tell You The Truth,” Vol. 22, No. 49 (Oct. 3, 1947).

People who understand God's new covenant know that Christ is our sabbath rest and that He fulfilled the WHOLE law in our behalf. Those who require the observance of the sabbath are Judaizers who are out to harm the consciences of the people of God.
Besides, the sabbath was required only of Israel. Gentiles were NEVER required to keep it.

I provided four authors---each of whom reflects my own position---who engage with the subject of the OP. Take your pick.

This seems to rear its ugly head from time to time despite the fact I think the Bible is clear on the issue.
Colossians 2:16 KJV Why would Paul instruct the saints to not let other men judge them in respect of Sabbath days unless they weren't observing the Jewish Sabbath but had already started observing a different day. Sure the apostles entered and taught in the synagogues on the Jewish Sabbath as that was the best way to reach Jewish audiences and I'm sure Jewish Christians continued to observe the old Sabbath as well out of tradition but is there any harm offering up your vows to the Lord any day of the week? Worship shouldn't happen only one day of the week, who cares which day your faith decides to gather as a group to worship?

You have to keep in mind that the Catholic Church claims everyone back to the apostles as part of the Church. The tradition of meeting on the first day of the week started with the apostles, as the Jews met together on Saturday, which was their Sabbath.
So, a Sunday meeting of the Church became what they normally did, and when the Church separated completely from Judaism several years down the road, meeting on Sunday remained.
And, since they had to justify meeting on Sunday, suddenly it became something they decided to do, making it holy, etc.etc.etc., and you get what was written above.
I don't care how systematic your theology is, until you show me how biblical it is.
2 Tim 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

So does mans 'tradition' set aside the Commandments of God?

There never was a command to the Gentile to keep the sabbath. So to command it to the Gentile is the commandment of men and not of God. And it was abolished in reference to the Jew. So to command it to the Jew today is also the commandment of men and not of God.

No, it means that Apostolic Tradition (2 Thess. 2:15; 1 Cor. 11:2)---not the corrupt "traditions of men"*---designated Sunday (the Lord's Day) as the normative day for formal Christian worship. (See Post #3 above.)

*The New Testament describes two kinds of tradition. Thus, not all "tradition" is corrupt or forbidden.
