i probably would NOT be a Christian if the Bible was all i had... - June 19th, 2012, 01:43 PM

with all the inconsistencies and seeming contradictions in the Bible

and all the different interpretations in the nonCatholic realm...

i would say that "Christianity" is too contradictory, illogical... divisive...

for me to accept

Thank GOD

there is the Church

The bible outside the context of the Church that produced it

is like a fish out of water

we all know how long the fish will last outside of water...

If the Bible is of divine origin, then its meaning should be self-evident; interpretation should be unnecessary.

So are you stating that Catholics are not Christians or are the only *true* Christians?

What kind of Man or Woman are you ?

Heb 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

OR

1Jo 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in the truth.

who says?

well a lot of the Bible is understandable by just about anyone

some of it is NOT

even teh stuff that IS understandable... like

Mt 25:31-46

Who are the least of Christ's brethren spoken of in that psg?

it doesn't say

but it at least means that we should treat anyone who appears to be trying to be his follower...

as though that person were Christ himself...

sorry

but i dont see too many breaking a sweat to do that...

The Word of God? produced by a Church, or produced by God Himself?

Will this arrogant church ever humble itself and accept that the scriptures, as divinely inspired were produced BY GOD and NOT by men; and then humble itself to obey it?

No. what we have here in a church that places itself above the scriptures is a licence to make stuff up as it goes. And this kind of power is such they will never give up, for power does corrupt

For history is replete with stuff the roman church has made up. This is seen by reading the plain words of scripture then comparing them with the teachings of any church (which, incidentally is what the Bible is for)

I am sickened by protestant arrogance but realize i am naive to think that the Roman church has no share in arrogance

Except that people are ignorant and want to interpret any message from God because they don't want to believe He could be straightforward because we'd be "too lowly to understand Him." They want to treat it like art, as though it's valid to say it has a different meaning for every person.

b4 i entered the Catholic Church... but technically i never left... just ignorantly fell away, wasn't catechized..

i was really ... uh... lost & etc..

i still have moments of "lostness".. Everyone does (esp when outside the Church)

but...

Jesus helps people

he isn't like humans who kick people when they're down

and so i will always be thankful for his Church

dont' know where i would be

who i would be

if i had not been raised (@ least somewhat)Catholic

if everything in my life had been virtually the same except that i hadn't been raised C

well... let's just put it in understatement terms

it would not have been good... (god knows what i mean)

but again... words can never say... so i will not try to make them say...

The bible is only an affirmation of what the Holy Spirit has written on your heart... if you look to the Bible or a Church for absolute authority on anything, you are deafening the Holy Spirits work in you.

Seriously, Jesus prophesied that the Holy Spirit would lead us into all truth and God would write his laws on the hearts and minds of his true children... neither of these two things are a churches job... in fact they are anti-Christ.

I honestly believe that the above is why each and every so called church in the world will eventually be exposed for vile sins and false teaching it commits when the Lord decides to reveal such to his children.

Hence we have all the protestant and catholic self appointed leaders that have false prophesied, gotten involved in money laundering, got caught in homosexual acts, child abuse, etc. Human institutions will always be filled with sinful people, and those that lead such institutions are always the most sinful.

2 Tim 3:16-17 (KJV) is a lie, brother john.

Don't you know? You need more.

1. Land forever. Gen 17:8 (KJV)
2. City FROM heaven. Rev 21:2 (KJV)
3. Heavenly places. Eph 2:6-7(KJV)

how does this psg contradict the notion that the Church is ALSO suffient? It doesn't... soemthing ELSE the Bible does not say... but it is true nonetheless... The Bible doesn't say a lot of things that are true. All truth cannot be placed into a small book... and the bible is nothing but small in comparison to all the truth there is in the world/universe...

in any case, this pssg does not say that the Bible is the ONLY

thing sufficient..

all it says is that it is suffient for teaching... for bringing one to a knowledge of salvation

The Bible is incomplete and was NEVER meant to be ALL a Christain has

if that were true, Jesus would have said to the Apostles: Write down my words and spread them to the whole world.

If he did say such a thing, it is NOT written in the Bible... which would disclaim YOUR doctrine right there... sola scriptura

He said to PREACH the Word... and baptize (Mt 28)

there was no written New T for at least 40 yrs after the Ascension

and even then there were no bibles as we know them today... the printing press not having been invented until 1440

no Christians until then?
