If that is your position, then you are essentially unteachable. Even if Jesus Christ himself came to you and declared that his Church's teachings are identical with his own teachings---as he does in Lk. 10:16---you would refuse to "change your position." You are willfully stuck.
May the Lord open your heart to his truth.

Hardly. If I were unteachable, I would never have become a Catholic in the first place. I would still be an Evangelical Protestant with my fingers in my ears. I would never state, as you have, that

You think wrong. If anti-Catholic Protestants were able to offer anything but misrepresentations, half-truths, straw men, stereotypes, and distortions, I would return to Protestantism in a second. Believe me, it would be far more convenient for myself and my family. However, God has not called us to convenience, but truth. Therefore, I'm grateful and pleased to be a member of Christ's historic Catholic Church.

I'm not attacking you or your beliefs in Catholicism. We are opposite sides of the same coin. I left Catholicism for the same reasons you left Protestantism. Go figure eh?

The glaring difference is that while I have a seminary-level knowledge of Protestant theology, you seem to have no real comprehension of Catholic belief and teaching whatsoever (if your statements here on TOL are any indication). So no, our situations are quite different from the outset.

Cruc, I have more of an education than you give me credit for. Don't you see that it was those beliefs and teachings that sent me packing?

What seminary? Or is that just your estimation of yourself? You couldn't explain any theology, not even your own.
I bet you will post a link about protestant theology and then feign as though you understand any of it.
Oh boy, I needed a good laugh
Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. If you deny that basic truth, you cannot be saved. God came to save you, you cannot be saved if you do not believe in Him as He is.

If you're referring to the "beliefs and teachings" that you've tried to depict on TOL as "Catholic" then, again, you left Catholicism based upon a profound lack of understanding regarding what the Catholic Church actually believes and teaches. Thus, what you left behind was not "Catholicism," but merely an ill-informed anti-Catholic caricature of the Catholic faith. Very sad.

A simple look at the language of CHrist in similar instances will explain it plainly.
Here is one example of similar usage:
Joh 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Jesus was not talking about the temple that was in the vicinity, He was talking about Himself, which we learn later in the context of the story:
Joh 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
This is the exact type language used when speaking of the Rock:
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Like many parable, Jesus spoke to some would not understand what He was saying. We find the truth of the matter laid out by allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture:
The church is a spiritual building:
1Co 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
Christ is the foundation of this building:
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Christ is the corner stone, on which the entire church is built:
Isa_28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Eph_2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
1Pe_2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Of course, this is allowing the Scripture to interpret itself. The rcc substitutes this for its own private interpretation which has no biblical support at all.
Jesus is the corner stone, on which the entire church is built. Any other interpretation is private.
Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. If you deny that basic truth, you cannot be saved. God came to save you, you cannot be saved if you do not believe in Him as He is.
