Ayn Rand: High Queen of Satanism - July 1st, 2012, 08:05 PM

Perhaps most are unaware of the connection, though Anton LaVey (Leader of the Church of Satan) wasn’t shy about admitting his debt to his inspiration. “I give people Ayn Rand with trappings,” he once told the Washington Post. On another occasion he acknowledged that his brand of Satanism was “just Ayn Rand’s philosophy with ceremony and ritual added.” Indeed, the influence is so apparent that LaVey has been accused of plagiarizing part of his “Nine Satanic Statements” from the John Galt speech in Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.

You don’t have to start with metaphysics to create your ethics. Satanism does not assert that the fundamental truth of the nature of reality (metaphysics) is known. In fact, Satanists utilize two different metaphysical assumptions regarding reality as evidenced in Satanic ritual as opposed to the rest of life. In effect, Satanists are pragmatic regarding their beliefs concerning reality. Thus, as Satanists do not claim to know the absolute “truth” regarding what is real they are, by definition, not “Objectivists” who hold that reality is totally objective. Satanists proclaim that doubt is vital in the absence of proof. At this fundamental level there is division between the two views of reality.

What I find amusing is that Christians, particularly those in public office, have begun espousing Rand, even though she is the closest thing to the Anti-Christ as has ever existed. In truth, Satanism is likely more sympathetic to Christianity than Rand’s Objectivism, though neither jive with the teachings of Christ.

How many of you Far right Christians buy into the teachings of Ayn Rand?

The only so-called "Christians" that I know of that admire Ayn Rand is the Libertarian Ron Paul and his son Rand.

Of course Ayn Rand was a pro abortion atheist, who had an adulterous affair and was inspired by a serial killer who chopped the arms and legs off of a little girl.

Sounds like your kind of gal AC.

Many Christian conservatives (so called) follow her and revere her. No doubt most do not know of this aspect of her writings.

That is because many Christian conservatives have been co-opted into the self-interest aspect of American culture and politics.

Don't worry about the Christians. In the Fountainhead, Rand's cold-blooded protagonist conspicuously rises above the church ostensibly to new heights. Jesus wouldn't do for Rand as the venerable archetype of man.

6.9 Was Ayn Rand Jewish?

Ethnically, yes, Rand was Jewish. She was born into a Russian Jewish family (see question 4.1 above), although her parents were not particularly observant. As an adult, Rand did not practice Judaism as a religion, since she became an atheist at an early age. A number of Rand's close associates over the years, including Nathaniel Branden, Barbara Branden, Leonard Peikoff, and Alan Greenspan, have also been ethnic, but non-religious, Jews.[*]

I stand corrected, Hickman only chopped off the legs of the little girl.
http://michaelprescott.freeservers.c...tone-cold.html

"In her journal circa 1928 Rand quoted the statement, "What is good for me is right," a credo attributed to a prominent figure of the day, William Edward Hickman. Her response was enthusiastic. "The best and strongest expression of a real man's psychology I have heard," she exulted. (Quoted in Ryan, citing Journals of Ayn Rand, pp. 21-22.)

That quote sounds awful moral relativistic (atheistic) to me AC.

But please do give the names and articles by "many Christian conservatives" that idolize that atheist nutcase.

Atheism is a non-belief in God. Atheists do not share dogma, we do not have a church, we do not have leaders or even a text that we share. Atheists only agree on one thing. There is no God.

Atheism is not a religion. You can pretend it is so you can more easily focus your hatred, but you are incorrect in thinking so.

Here is a brief article on the subject, straight from the horse's mouth:

"A partial list of the adherents of Ayn Rand’s philosophy includes Rush Limbaugh, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Ron Paul, Jim Jordan, Sean Hannity, Alan Greenspan, Steve Moore, John Campbell, Clarence Thomas and many others" (source).

See also: http://swampland.time.com/2011/05/13...s-philosopher/

Rush Limbaugh has also said that he is a fan of the rock band "Rush", and Neil Peart, drummer and chief lyricist for that band, has also been heavily influenced by the writings and philosophy of Ayn Rand. Songs such as "Tom Sawyer" and, in particular, "Anthem", show Rand's strong influence. In fact, "Anthem" was named after one of Rand's short novels:

Was Ayn Rand correct in her views concerning Capitalism vs. Marxism?
Did she understand man's desire for freedom and that Capitalism is the best facilitator for this desire?

Anti-Communist, anti-Christ, if that works for you.

Do we want to introduce John Todd's critique of Atlas Shrugged, here? Yeah? No?

Its not an all or nothing comparison, Rand was either right when it came to the best economic philosophy that creates the greatest wealth, facilitates freedom, or she was wrong.
Instead of John Todd's critique why not Rand's words in her essays, rather than a novel.
