Homosexuality Is An Unhealthy Lifestyle ? - July 15th, 2012, 02:22 PM

Yes, it CAN be an unhealthy lifestyle , but not necessarily . True, SOME gay men have been highly promiscuous , and have died as a result of this from AIDS etc, but there are many who are not promiscuous and in good health .
Homosexuality shortens your lifespan ? In some cases because of promiscuity, but there are plenty of gay men who range form middle-aged to elderly and are in good health . For example, the famous writer Gore Vidal, an openly gay man, is nearly 87 years old, and certainly not confined to a hospital . Many other famous gay men have lived to ripe old ages .
But consider these other unhealthy lifestyles which shorten the lives of countless people all over the world every year ,most of whom are not homosexual .
Smoking , which causes emphysema, lung cancer and other severe ailments .
Alcoholism , which kills so many . Using dangerous illegal drugs such as heroin, cocaine etc . Getting Aids from infected needles while using drugs .
Unhealthy diet, either overeating or not eating nutritious food in general, plus anorexia and bulimia etc.
Far more heterosexuals die from these unhealthy lifestyles every year than gay people . Yet no one shows these unfortunate people the kind of hostility they do toward homosexuals .People will forgive you and even be highly sympathetic . No one will hate you for making these poor lifestyle choices .
People will forgive you for being an axe murderer , but not a gay person who has never harmed any one .
Drunk drivers are far more dangerous to society than homosexuals .

Heterosexual promiscuity .

Yes, the problem as far as health is concerned is promiscuity.

The problem is also too many homosexual threads.

The problem would be promiscuity but I'm not convinced that it is any more prevalent in the gay community than it is in the strait community.

(Can I just ask what this has to do with god?)

I believe it is the word "homosexual" qualifying "lifestyle". The type of lifestyle being lived is the homosexual lifestyle. It is not making allowance for all types of lifestyle, but saying that people really live this way.

I believe people who are homosexual can be rescued from their lifestyle, just like others who sin their sins can be.

By the way, I like your slogan/motto.

Maybe those that live that "lifestyle" are genuinely happy and would prefer to live that way without people telling them they are doing wrong and need to be saved. Call me crazy.

It's the same with any sin. Some even justify their sin that they commit saying they are not homosexual so what they are doing is okay. But it is all sin.

And it is unfortunate that people tell other people they need to be saved, except that maybe they need to hear of salvation in Christ. Salvation is not about reforming oneself, it is about God changing your entire life from the inside out. And He does this in light of what Jesus Christ did for us (what He did on our behalf).

Mind you that the only thing saying that it is in fact a sin is you're god, and there is no evidence of your god. Those verses in the bible that deem homosexuality immoral were written by people in an archaic middle-eastern society that deemed slavery and genocide moral.

That doesn't explain what the 'homosexual lifestyle' is.

Thanks. It's only half a very popular 4th century prayer. The other half wouldn't fit, because there wasn't enough room in the box here.

The full prayer is:

O Lord and Master of my life, give me not the spirit of sloth, despair, lust for power and idle talk.

But grant unto me, Thy servant, a spirit of chastity (integrity), humility, patience and love.

Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see mine own faults and not to judge my brother. For blessed art Thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.

I believe sin is transgression of God's law. Or, in other words, disobeying God.

There is a difference between that which is natural and that which is un-natural. This is talking about the laws of nature.

God's creation is what we call nature, to use another word. There are things that are the way they are for particular reasons... probably too many reasons to count... and no end to the search for causes if we say none of it began with God.

When I speak of the law of God though, I'm speaking of one of two things. Either the codefied Law of Moses, with the Old Covenant/Testament that God made with the nation of Israel. Or the law of Christ which is again about loving God and loving your fellow man. Some people see these as virtually the same, but others point out distinctions. It is worthwhile to say that something was new about the New Covenant/Testament, and its not just a renewed Old Covenant. Is it that the true essence of God's Law has been made known to us? Is it the power of the Spirit of God in transforming people's lives permanently instead of temporarily? Is it that the New Covenant is unconditional between God and man rather than conditional? There are blessings to obeying God. People do experience God's blessing, even if they remain poor. They can see the hand of God in their life, even if they are persecuted for what they believe.

That anything is moral may be a mystery to some. But I believe it is worth talking about. Humanists talk about it. But Secular Humanists leave out God.

Understanding the Old Covenant and the death, troubles and wiles of the world may be a challenge. But if you focus on Jesus Christ, God's Son, things will begin to become clear for you.

That is true. I have only said what it is by pointing. I have not explained the details of it. That would be very difficult to do. I'm sure there would be objections, whether that I should not be judging, that I don't really know what happens in the lives of those who are homosexual, or that I've missed some detail and got the things I have said wrong.

My initial response to your request is perhaps square one. Not much past what you have already heard from me, if at all.

The homosexual lifestyle is the lifestyle characterized by those who are homosexual. That is, those who live it are homosexual and have engaged in or do engage in homosexual behavior. In Romans 1 this type of behavior is specifically called unnatural. It would be men with men or women with women. There are other types of sexual sin, and other types of sin. But that is what homosexual sin involves. It is sexual sin between two humans that are not a man and a woman or a woman and a man.

In 1 Corinthians 6 Paul explains that some of the Christians used to be homosexuals or whatever their sin was, but that they have been washed and sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
