Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10:13 (KJV) To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
There wouldn't be any civilization without beer. It is the cornerstone of civilization, otherwise people would have drank the water and we'd still be in the dark ages with low life expectations, never evolving to a point of civility through wisdom. To beer !!

Beer does seem to lighten people up.

Yes, I believe adherence to law makes or breaks society. But then again, one must consider the nature of the law. Established law gives the prerequisite of what ought to be (both pragmatically and morally, depending on the initial context of the issue), since everything in the world is affected by the Fall.

Can a nation without law be classified as civilized?
If a nation has law, is that when it is classified as civilized?
What would a nation's law need to say for it to be classified as civilized?
Would a nation need to not have punishment in order to be civilized?

Actually, God invented alcohol to prevent the Irish from taking over the world.
