"Lock Your Doors and Load Your Guns!" -

The City of San Bernardino is broke and City Atty Jim Penman tells citizens they (the govt.) cannot protect them...time to "Lock and Load". As our country goes further down the abyss towards bankruptcy do you think that this sort of action will be a trend? I do...
Right, because City Atty Jim Penman sees all and knows all.
No, because Jim Penman is telling people the truth, which is more than I can say for most politicians. If there are more criminals than cops what do you think will happen?

There will never be more cops than criminals, what city could carry that financial burden?
Penman is telling the truth, it is not a cops job to protect a citizen since an officer has no way of knowing that a crime is about to be commited 99% of the time.
So be prepared to defend yourself until the police arrive.
I always thought that that was common knowledge?

As did I but, what I believe Penman was pointing out was that the police might not be able to arrive, so arm yourself and be prepared to defend yourself because there may be no help coming.

I know cops that don't believe citizens have any business being armed, even in their homes.

Wow! I don't know any cops that believe that and I know a bunch of them. In fact most of the cops I know would rather every law abiding citizen could carry. The operative word being "could", here in CA. very few have that right.

I live in a rough area in the Appalachians where the police are few and far between. No one here depends on them. It's understood that everyone owns a gun/s and won't hesitate to blow your head off if you attempt to mess with their property. I won't even turn in someone's driveway here because someone came out of their house with a rifle on me once for doing it .
It seems to keep a lot of crime down. You should be proactive to safeguard your life and property regardless of local police department funding.

Yes sir, know that for sure.
My replacement for recruiting duty had been with me for 3 months when he drove into the office and excitedly ran in to tell me he was fired upon!
Seems he forgot that I had told him of an area that had special rules (for us) those being 1. Day light recruiting only 2. Never leave the blacktop roads unless escorted in. And 3. don't even think about messing with the girls.
Well, he showed me the bullet hole in the passenger side of his recruiting mobile, then said "they tried to kill me" my reply was "No sir, if they wanted to kill you the shot would be on the drivers side, that was a friendly warning"!
He didn't last 6 months after I was transferred..but at least he departed alive so he did learn a little!

Besides being foolish I bet they were very nervous cops.

Me too. When I lived in central CA, a police officer told me that he wished California was like Arizona in that matter. I've been told that Arizona requires anyone with a gun to help out when posses are needed.
