Have you seen this?
I just received it in an email....
cool !!

God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs. For example;
-the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days;
-those of the canary in 14 days;
-those of the barnyard hen in 21 days.
-The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;
-those of the mallard in 35 days.
-The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.
(Notice, they are all divisible by seven).

God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.

The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.

-Each watermelon has an even number of strips on the rind.
-Each orange has an even number of segments.
-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
-Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
-Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even numbe r and the next row an odd number.

-The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold - all even numbers.

God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day, so that Linneus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!

The way, the truth, and the life: (John 14:6)

Wow. Eight animals out of the whole animal kingdom. I'm so impressed.

God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.

Or they could've evolved that way.

The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

What?
God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.

-Each watermelon has an even number of strips on the rind.
-Each orange has an even number of segments.
-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
-Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
-Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even numbe r and the next row an odd number.

So there's a meaning behind the number of stripes a watermelon has or the number of grains in wheat? Couldn't this just be a result of equal mitotic activity during development?

-The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

First, proof, please. Second, why should this mean anything?

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold - all even numbers.
See previous objection.
God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day, so that Linneus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!
That or flowers evolved a means to maximize their reproductive success by being open during times of the day that were favored by specific pollinators.

[In reference to the OP...]

All of which is arbitrary, since you ignore all of the other things in nature that contradict what you just said.

Apples have five seed segments, so if you cut an apple in half sideways, you get a five-pointed star -- something that neo-pagans (including Wiccans like I used to be) love to point out. Odd number.

Star fruit also have five sides. Odd number.

Btw, canary eggs often hatch in 13 days rather than 14. Having personally managed a small, personal chicken & egg business as a teen, I can tell you that chicken eggs hatch anywhere from 20 to 24 days, not precisely 21 days. Depending on the breed, duck eggs hatch anywhere from approximately three weeks to approximately five weeks but not necessarily in numbers divisible by seven. I could go on, but it would get boring fast.

Our Lord is brilliant and wise beyond measure, and it is true He loves to use numbers in certain symbolic ways. However, this list in particular is hokey, superstitious nonsense.

What is neat? The fact that many fruits and vegetables have even numbered things and many have odd-numbered things? The fact that most of the OP is factually false?

Just curious.

I know you guys are sticklers for theological accuracy, but I liked Troublemakers post. Perhaps you all need to "lighten up". Especially with those who are new to TOL!

Hi Troublemaker!

Since there's apparently no rule here against cross-posting, I repeat my response to you from another thread where you posted this same thing.

Regarding your post above which lists a bunch of things that seem too interesting to you to NOT have been designed...

How do you feel about the uninteresting things? The rot and decay that is everywhere. War and death. The things that don't happen to come in sevens, or have orderly arrangements. Our problematic biological systems that cause our bodies to fail in painful and embarrassing ways. The vast majority of the Universe that appears to be instantly fatal to life as we know it.

The human mind has a remarkable ability to find patterns, and there is undoubtedly survival value in that. But the flip side is that the brain also ignores the vastly more things that are not patterns. Otherwise we'd be overwhelmed with processing tasks that aren't important.

So we notice coincidences and good luck, but we ignore the rest. It's called "confirmation bias" and it's what makes people gamble and makes casinos rich.
