Like electric, steam makes peak torque at zero RPM. And those things radiate heat.

A 1000 hp, 12 drive wheel, diesel tractor can't pull much more than a 15 bottom plow. The amount of power in this 100 year old tractor is incredible. Those old time engineers and fabricators were off-the charts smarter than today's engineers and fabricators.

One of the other neat things about steam is that it's very quiet.
I've walked beside the plowshares as they cut through the sod and the soil and they just whisper and hiss. It's a sound you can't hear with a diesel tractor.
