Will Smith was an actor who portrayed characters who I could easily like and get behind. This stupid Oscars event has me thinking racist thoughts. Growing up I would point to celebrities who I thought were squeaky clean when confronted with racist statements about the kids bused into my suburban school. It was OJ and Bill Cosby that I would referenced most. Smith's offense is a million times less severe, but his behavior was unseemly at an event that has finally become more inclusive racially. It plays into a stereotype of the more black involvement, the more violence. Denzel, don't fail me now.
