Yosemite Valley: Icon of Rapid Formation

Remember lava lamps? That type of formation is how granite comes to the surface and creates its domes etc. Well, take any look at Yosemite Valley and you'll see several of these from almost any angle. Every picture I've taken or seen near Nevada Falls has at least three.

"Granitic magmatism must be completely rewritten" writes British geologist Clemens in the London Association of Geology journal recently. These domes can form in as few as 5 hours and no more than several days.

Sounds to me like Someone was shifting around "the fountains of the great deep."
