Wow, I never knew that! I wonder how many near no-hitters Forbes Field had? How many no-hitters where thrown at Three Rivers Stadium?

Three Rivers Stadium stood for only 30 years.

There were three no-hitters thrown at Three Rivers Stadium (no pun intended)

Bob Gibson threw a no-hitter against the Pirates in 1971, John Candelaria threw a no-hitter against the Dodgers in 1976, and the final no-hitter came in 1997 when Francisco Cordova and Ricardo Rincon combined for an 10 inning no-hitter against the Astros.

I couldn't find out how may near no-hitters there were at Forbes Field.

FYI:

Dodger Stadium, Angel Stadium of Anaheim, and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum were all built in the 1960's, and have a combined 26 no-hitters.

Also:

Wrigley Field opened in 1914, and has had seven no-hitters, but there hasn't been a no-hitter at Wrigley since 1972, and the Cincinnati Reds are the only visiting team to ever throw a no-hitter at Wrigley, and they did it twice.

AND:

The first no-hitter thrown by a black guy was at Wrigley, when Sam "Toothpick" Jones no-hit the Pirates in 1955.

Sandy Koufax had three no-hitters at Dodger Stadium, and his third no-hitter was a perfect game.

Dodger Stadium, Safeco Field (Seattle Mariners), and Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum are the only ballparks to ever have more than one perfect game pitched. Each has two.

And:

The first no-hitter thrown at Dodger Stadium didn't even involve the Dodgers. The Los Angeles Angels played there from 1962-1965 and referred to the ballpark as Chávez Ravine Stadium.

On May 5, 1962 Bo Belinsky of the Los Angeles Angels no-hit the Baltimore Orioles at Dodger Stadium (Chávez Ravine Stadium). Eight weeks later, Sandy Koufax no-hit the Mets on June 30, 1962 at Dodger Stadium for the first of his three no-hitters at Dodger Stadium.

More fun no-hitter facts:

Like Dodger Stadium, the first no-hitter at Fenway didn't involve the Red Sox.

The Boston Braves of the National League played at Fenway for the 1914 season before opening their new ballpark in 1915. The Boston Braves won the World Series in 1914 despite being in last place on July 4th.

The first no-hitter thrown at Fenway was on September 9, 1914 by a Harvard Law School student named George A. Davis Jr, who was making his first start of the year for the Boston Braves, and no-hit the Philadelphia Phillies at Fenway.

Although a perfect game was never pitched at Fenway, on June 6, 1917 Babe Ruth walked the leadoff batter, then was ejected. Ernie Shore then came in to relieve Ruth. On Shore's first pitch, the batter that Ruth had walked was called out trying to steal second base, then Shore retired the next 26 batters.

To this day, Babe Ruth and Ernie Shore are credited with throwing a combined no-hitter.

Former WVU QB Pat White Claims He Was Offered a Corvette to Sign with Alabama

The issue arose Monday when Henry posted a picture of himself with his new ride on Instagram. Although there is no evidence he received any sort of impermissible benefit, speculation began to run rampant about how an unpaid college athlete could afford something so nice.

On Thursday, White commented on the story on his Facebook page, telling his followers (and the world) to "Stop pretending like you didn't know the crimson tide has been doing this for years. Still glad I turned down a Corvette to become a mountaineer."

Isn't it obvious why Pat White turned down the corvette from Alabama.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/s...rs-antitrust-suit-vs-ncaa-go-trial-next-month

A federal judge on Friday denied motions by the NCAA that would delay trial on an antitrust suit by former UCLA basketball player Ed O'Bannon and others, ordering the trial to go forward next month in California.

Judge Claudia Wilken ordered a June 9 trial in Oakland, California, on the antitrust lawsuit. The plaintiffs are seeking an injunction that would allow Division I players the right to band together to sell their services in an open market.

If successful, the lawsuit could upend the NCAA's current model built upon the concept college athletes are amateurs and shouldn't be compensated beyond tuition and basic room and board.

"If this is a business -- which they admit it is -- it's got to run as a business in all aspects," said Michael Hausfeld, lead attorney for the plaintiffs. "And a competitive business operating in open markets can't fix their cost of labor."

I was always of the opinion that they did get paid in the form of a college education. But taking my time, the NCAA doesn't get to make millions billions off their performance, when the players is the one doing it. Knowing the NCAA is liberal, their agenda has to be evil. So I will side against them.

And then there is this worthless bum that has to be some sort of con-artist. Why would you hire him knowing he can't win without cheating? When it was revealed that the Pats were taking video other teams can't, and were forced to stop, and the SB's came to a halt, that is your clue. Brady is playing much better now than ever. And yet Belicheat doesn't seem like a genius any more.

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...re-dame-sports-properties-termination-payment

Weis, who was fired in November 2009 after five seasons and now coaches Kansas, received $2,054,744 of buyout money from Notre Dame in the period covering July 2010 through June 2011.

He received an initial payment of $6,638,403 after his firing, meaning his much-debated buyout total stands at $8,693,147 — and, if it continues at this rate, it could approach $19 million.

"Termination payment of $2,054,744 was made during the reporting period to Charles J. Weis under a separation agreement that includes additional annual payments through December, 2015," the latest form states.

Basically, ND is paying Charlie Weis more money to not lead the domers to defeat like he did than they are paying Brian Kelly to be the coach now.

Not a peep from the left. Imagine that.

John Calipari turns down $80 million to coach the Cleveland Cavilers.

People who want nothing to do with Cleveland:

1) LeBron James

2) John Calipari

3) Quarterbacks

4) People born in Cleveland

Even the Planet Preterist National Convention turned down Cleveland. But Rock and Roll still loves Cleveland.

On Pat White...two guys from Mississippi once claimed they were taken on a ride in a UFO too.

On Cleveland. It's going to be a better year for Browns' fans.

I never believed that Cleveland was cursed until the 1997 World Series. The Indians were two outs away from winning their first World Series title since 1948 and they couldn't close it out.

The only reason the Atlanta Braves won a World Series in the 90's was because they got to play Cleveland one year. The Braves lost the other four World Series they were in that decade.

Same thing for Jim Leyland. Leyland lost three NLCS's with Pittsburgh, and one ALCS and two World Series with the Tigers. Leyland's only World Series Championship came against Cleveland.

The last time any of the Cleveland professional sports teams won a championship was 50 years ago this December 27th, when Jim Brown led the Browns to the NFL Championship.

Cleveland has the #1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

I guarantee that whoever the Cavilers pick, the guys picked afterwards will end up being better.

For example, if the Cavs don't pick Jabari Parker, Parker will be a perennial All-Star or better.

Pffft. I've heard that more than once, TH. That city's misery index for sports fans is really, truly unique.
