God is Sovereign !

Many people would deny that God is Sovereign simply because they dont see that exact phrase written in the scripture, though some translations may use that word. Nevertheless scripture does reveal that God is Sovereign without using that word specifically. What does the word means ? A dictionary says:

a monarch; a king, queen, or other supreme ruler.
a person who has supreme power or authority.

belonging to or characteristic of a sovereign or sovereign authority; royal.
having supreme rank, power, or authority.
supreme; preeminent; indisputable:

God no doubt is presented in Holy Scripture as The Supreme ruler, for His Kingdom of which He is King, rules over all

2 Chron 20:6

And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

Notice the word rulest, the God of heaven rulest over all the kingdoms of the heathen

The word rulest is the hebrew word māšal

  1. to rule, have dominion, reign
    1. (Qal) to rule, have dominion
    2. (Hiphil)
      1. to cause to rule
      2. to exercise dominion

Then notice the sacred writer writes that none is able to withstand thee. What does that mean ? Remember one of the definitions for sovereign is indisputable.

The word withstand gives the idea of one not able to hold or maintain there ground against

The word is used is Deut 7:24

And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them

The word sovereign also denotes:

Him who has the authority and power to do what He pleases.! Now one sacred writer writes this about God Ps 115:3

But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

See that ? Thats Sovereignty, God does as He pleases.

Dan 4:35

35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he[God] doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Amen.
I rejoice in the fact we are now able to walk in obedience to His sovereign will.

Does man resist the Holy Spirit ?

Acts 7:51

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Now isn't the Holy Ghost God ? Yes He is God Almighty, and therefore Sovereign. God the Holy Spirit is resisted not when He Sovereignly regenerates a person as in Jn 3:6-8

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

But yet when the message of God is preached in the power of the Holy Spirit, like indicate here 1 Pet 1:12

12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

The unregenerate heart and mind does what is natural to the spiritual things, truths of God, he resist them, we men in our natural unregenerate state, resist the message of the Truth, we are opposed to it, adverse towards it.

But when the Holy Spirit is working in a Sovereign manner in regenerating a sinner, its an inner work wherein the person is passive, and has no say so about it.

God's sovereignty explains why the Church was undivided for ten centuries following Christ's Ascension too.

It was undivided because they wouldn't allow anyone to read the bible. They kept it in Latin and few could read that. Some tried to translate to the language of the day, but were burned alive at the stake for heresy along with their translating. Proving 100% Jesus was most assuredly not with that religion. He taught, Love, peace, forgiveness. Not kill.
As well Jesus taught---Man does not live by bread alone, but by EVERY utterance from God= OT-NT years of hard study for one to learn every utterance. So by not letting anyone Read Gods word is another proof, Jesus was not with them. It was the rise of the great apostasy(Son of peredition(destruction) 2 Thess 2:3--not a single protestant religion fixed what they did. So they are in the same group.

Yes we know that your "teachers" have filled you with conspiracy theories, because that is what your "teachers" base their legitimacy upon: Conspiracy theories.

No the holy spirit is not God. Its not a living being. It is Gods active force, the most powerful force in creation.

What religion are you ?

It is Gods active force, the most powerful force in creation.

He is God Almighty, Sovereign 1 Cor 12:11

But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The Spirit here is Sovereign in the administering of various Gifts to the saints, read starting at Vs 3ff

So He is the Intelligent wise God who is Sovereign !

Is it possible to lie to something that is not a person?

No?

Then how could Ananias and Saphira have lied to the Holy Spirit, when the Holy Spirit isn't a person, but just a force?

No it isnt possible, lets look at the facts---God asked the question, he sent the holy spirit as a go between, it was God seeking the answer, that is how he lied to God.

No it isnt possible,

Thank you for conceding the entire discussion.

It isn't possible to lie to something that isn't a person.

Thus, when Luke recorded Peter in Acts 5:3-4 as saying "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit..." then we know, based on your own admission, that the Holy Spirit MUST be a person, because you agreed that it isn't possible to lie to something that isn't a person, yet Scripture clearly shows Ananias as having lied to a Person, whom you deem not to be a Person.

Which means that your position contradicts what you just said (which was correct).

Your position is wrong. You need to be humble enough to admit that you're wrong.

lets look at the facts---God asked the question, he

*He

sent the holy spirit

*Holy Spirit

as a go between, it was God seeking the answer, that is how he lied to God.

That's not what is described in Acts 5:3-4, KJ.

No answer was being sought. It was simply Ananias and his wife Sapphira who sold a possession, but kept back part of the proceeds, then lied, presenting the part they brought as the whole, instead of just the part. Peter then confronted both of them (three hours apart from each other), saying, "You have lied to the Holy Spirit. You have not lied to men, but to God," and the moment Peter finished speaking, they died. Peter equated the Holy Spirit with God. YOU CANNOT GET AROUND THIS FACT.
