After a farmer shot a man who broke into his home, French President Emmanuel Macron said the French people do not have the right to self-defense, and the man should have instead let the police handle the incident.
Macron made his controversial remarks on Europe 1 news channel while broadcasting in Fourras, France, after learning of the news that a 35-year-old man from Longré, in the north of Charente, was indicted for murder after fatally shooting a 40-year-old man who broke into his home last Friday.
According to the initial investigation, the farmer fired twice with a large caliber rifle at a group of four burglars, killing one of them. The self-defense shooting took place last Friday, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., and the man was alone with his 3-year-old daughter at the time.

As far as I'm concerned be wary of war. War can break out anywhere at any time, and I don't mean Ukraine, I mean, there's an enemy among you suddenly. Not war writ large, but war writ small. Could be a bear or a pack of coyotes too.
Your carry gun is the first line of defense if you need a weapon. This gun should be useful for you to get to a better (bigger) gun if you need one, sometimes you can't stand your ground with your carry gun. Have a back-up gun for your carry gun if possible, have back-up magazines, or have at least one back-up mag, but most important: carry a gun.
If "Ukraine" ever happens, then you'll be much better off with a rifle or carbine (a carbine is a shorter rifle, basically a shorter rifle, basically same thing as a rifle just a shorter barrel) than any handgun, generally. Way longer range.
An AR "assault weapon" is the closest thing to a common gun around here that would be useful in a "Ukraine" situation. Actual military troops have AR-type guns except they can shoot in bursts of bullets, full automatic, no "assault weapon" can do that.
But as Doser has pointed out, check out Mr. Jerry Miculek. What's better than a full-auto rifle is a semiauto with Mr. Miculek on the trigger because he's going to shoot almost as fast, except he's going to bullseye every shot. If you can do that you're way more useful with a gun than just about everybody.
