Homeland Security’s Peculiar Prosecution of Rentboy

The website Rentboy.com is accused of connecting male sex workers with clients, enabling prostitution, which is unlawful virtually everywhere in the country. It operated fairly transparently, giving annual parties, announcing a scholarship contest for escorts and promoting the motto “Money can’t buy you love … but the rest is negotiable.”

It’s somewhat baffling, though, that taking down a website that operated in plain sight for nearly two decades suddenly became an investigative priority for the Department of Homeland Security and federal prosecutors in Brooklyn. This week, the website’s founder and six employees were charged with violating federal law by facilitating paid sexual encounters.

Kelly Currie, the acting United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York, trumpeted the case against Rentboy.com, calling it an “Internet brothel” that “made millions of dollars from the promotion of illegal prostitution.” The website pulled in $10 million over the past five years, charging escorts for publishing their profiles, according to prosecutors. That’s less revenue than an average McDonald’s franchise generates.

The criminal complaint is so saturated with sexually explicit details, it’s hard not to interpret it as an indictment of gay men as being sexually promiscuous.

After the Ashley Madison incident perhaps the Feds are going in and destroying "securing" any evidence that might be deemed harmful to certain people? (like the guy that you voted for).

Didn't vote for him last time; and I rather doubt it.

LGBTQ advocates say they haven't seen anything like this since Stonewall. What is DeBlaisio up to?

Such an infringement on homosexual "culture"! (GASP).

The last time I checked the pro LGBTQueer Mayor of New York City Bill de Blaisio doesn't run the Dept. of Homeland Security, the guy who you allegedly didn't vote for a 2nd time does that.

When your internet search engine problems are resolved on Monday, perhaps you could look into if DHS evidence seized in a raid can be open to the public for examination (public disclosure) or it they must remain sealed? (until the issue quietly goes away).

But.....but.........but......... :madmad: If you had read the piece, you'd know the DA did NOT sign off on it. DiBlasio needn't have. So once more : What is he up to??

I saw no mention of local authorities in the article that you linked Aaron (NYC mayor or the DA) only that of Homeland Security and Federal Prosecutors. The prosecution would fall under federal jurisdiction, it (Rentboy) being an internet website, so I'm not sure what your obsession with Bill de Blaisio is.

Your article does question what motivated the DHS to raid this little nest of perversion (my words, not the pro sodomite New York Times).

Again: I'm speculating that they're covering up a bunch of homosexuals in powerful places before Rentboy.com (like Ashley Madison did) gets hacked and that information is made public.

Getting desperate for gay bashing topics?

Just talking about some homosexual "culture" (how sexually and gender confused youth survive by prostituting themselves out to chicken hawks, etc.).

"In New York, where homeless shelters for gay and transgender youths have lengthy waiting lists, sex work can mean the difference between sleeping on a bed and sleeping on the street."

Do you think that Kevin Jennings, B. Hussein Obama's former "Safe Schools Czar" was on the list?

I don't know who Aaron is, Karl. But oops, I was thinking of a second article, on another news site: Too many problems with my laptop to check it now, but the DA removed his name and DiB ppput his

It appears that the NYPD was involved in the raid.

The feds usually invite the local jurisdiction to participate as a courtesy.

Put some calls out to your contacts in the LGBT community and let us know what big names were on the Rentboy list, as the raid is without a doubt protecting them.

The fact that there are so many homeless gay and lesbian children that specialized shelters have waiting lists is an indictment of the culture of conservative Christianity and all the hate mongering they do.

and why would you refer to men who seek out 12 and 13 year old girls to pay for sex 'chicken hawks'?

As for Chicken Hawks. Since when are men who pick up 13 year old girls and pay them for sex called

Are you on the list?

I already have put that call out, and yes, it is. And by the by, I predicted this months ago.

Here is the article:

Gay activists fume over de Blasio’s role in rentboy.com raid

"Gay activists are furious over the rentboy.com raid and arrests for prostitution — and they are wondering why Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner William Bratton worked with the federal prosecutors in Brooklyn.

Both the mayor and Bratton march in the very same gay pride parade in which rentboy.com has a float. “Koch, Giuliani and Bloomberg didn’t go after rentboy.com. Why is de Blasio?” wondered one gay man who has used the service.

Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. had his name taken off the press release on the bust because he had nothing to do with it.

Meanwhile, police have recently been ticketing men in the gay cruising area of Prospect Park.

Quipped one activist, “The LGBT community hasn’t seen such harassment and intimidation since before Stonewall in 1969. "

Why am I not surprised that homosexual activist TracerBullet promotes prostitution for underage youth.

Of course there is an alternative for sexually and gender confused youth: Instead of selling their body to some filthy disease ridden chicken hawk:

slang: a man who pursues boys or young men for sexual purposes
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/chicken hawk

they could seek shelter and counseling at one of the many many Christian organizations that help sexually confused youth and runaways.

I'm sure that you have them on speed dial.

Per your article:

"Some wonder whether this is happening to rid the city of ‘gay sin’ prior to the arrival of de Blasio’s friend, the Pope.”

Big cities usually clean up their trash before VIP arrivals that bring in hundreds of thousands of visitors and millions of dollars in tourism money.

This might be the motivation behind the Rentboy bust.
