Now it's Arkansas' turn

Remember all the drama over Oklahoma erecting a 10 Commandments monument at their state capitol? Remember how the Satanic Temple exposed their plan of exclusivity by applying to erect their own statue at the state capitol? Remember how it ended with the 10 Commandments monument being taken down?

Well, Arkansas apparently saw all that and thought "That looks like fun. Let's do it!"

Group sets plans for Ten Commandments near Arkansas Capitol

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A granite monument of the Ten Commandments planned near Arkansas' Capitol will weigh 6,000 pounds and stand more than 6 feet tall, the group lined up to install the display said in an application filed Monday.

The American History and Heritage Foundation detailed its plans for the privately-funded monument in papers submitted to the secretary of state's office. The majority-Republican Legislature and GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson approved a law last year that requires the state to allow the monument to be built on Capitol grounds.

So naturally....

Satanists Seek Arkansas Capitol Monument

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A group of satanists is continuing its push for a monument on the grounds of the State Capitol.

Leaders of The Satanic Temple have made revisions to a September 2015 application to Arkansas Capitol Arts and Grounds Commission office for placement of a Baphomet statue on the capitol grounds.

The action comes as the Arkansas Secretary of State's Office considers approval of a Ten Commandments monument outside the capitol. The Arkansas legislature passed a bill last year allowing such religious displays there.

Looks to me like the Satanic Temple is basically watching around the country and anytime a government entity starts thinking about putting up monuments or statues to Christianity, the Satanists pop in and file a request for their monument/statue, which puts the gov't in a spot....allow the Satanic monument, or expose the illegal exclusivity behind the 10 Commandments monument.

IOW, sorry Christians....the jig is up.

Yeah, we wouldn't want to cause irreparable damage to the psychologies of all the snowflakes out there with an inanimate object

The Ten Commandments are based on moral principles.
Satanism is a proclamation of lawlessness and carnal desire.

What makes more sense to put into a COURT building :idunno:
Therein, you see what it's really come down to. Idiots.

What sort of message do you think it sends to non-Christian citizens, who while on their way into court see a large monument to Christianity that starts off with "You shall have no other gods before me"?

You think that tells them the government sees them as equal with Christians?

I don't think it sends any message at all to SANE people. If you are insane, maybe they'll consider you unfit for trial :idunno:

You atheists are waging your own imaginary war, and other people have to be affected by it.

Followed by

You shalt not murder, steal, commit sexual sins or lie.

Hmmmmm, maybe it'll get those "non-Christian citizens" who are going to court for murdering, stealing, fornicating and lying to thinking that there has to be a better way?

In thinking on this more it occurred to me....by the sentiment you expressed above, you should have no issues at all with the Satanic Temple erecting their statue/monument, right? Surely you're not such a delicate snowflake that you would be offended by a mere inanimate object.

Except prohibitions against those things are hardly unique to Christianity.

You walk into a courthouse and above the door is engraved in large letters "There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet". You look down at the crucifix around your neck and you think "I'll get a fair hearing here". :chuckle:

It wouldn't matter if there was a statue or engraving at all then, would it?

Inanimate objects don't do anything but sit there. You all have made it out to be sorcery.

However, it'd be nice to see family courts have a Quranic or old school Christian slant to it, because then it would actually be fair to the men :plain:

Then you should have no problem with the Satanic Temple's statue being at the state capitol.

It's about the intent.
Satanists aren't even really 'religious'. They're atheists.
But somehow they've gotten away with their nonsense, which undoubtedly has everything to do with people like yourself.

Satanism is a recognized religion that's quite old. But again, you're not so delicate that a simple Satanic monument gives you the vapors, right?

What are they "getting away with"? They're doing the same thing as the Christians.

The so-called "Satanists " are not satanists at all and don't even believe in Satan . They are just ordinary atheists trying to make a point about freedom of religion for non-christians .
They have a point . If Christians can put up statues of the 10 Commandments, followers of other religions should have the right to put up statues t5o other religions .

I could care less about the monument. Again, it's about the intent- simply trying to aggravate Christians. It's petty.

What are they "getting away with"? They're doing the same thing as the Christians.

Christians aren't putting monuments beside other religious ones to dump on their religion. No, it is not the same.

Good, so when it goes up there'll be no objections from you.

Again, it's about the intent- simply trying to aggravate Christians. It's petty.

I've seen no evidence that they're doing this to aggravate Christians. Rather, it seems they are illustrating the legal principles of equal protection under the law and religious neutrality.

Christians aren't putting monuments beside other religious ones to dump on their religion.

How does the Satanic monument "dump on" anything?

You have freedom of religion. So you aren't making any point at all, you're just trying to assault Christian belief. Do you think people are stupid? You aren't fooling anyone but yourselves. In fact, all you're really doing is making any judge who is Christian lay the smack down on anyone who goes up in there being pretentious about their atheism.

Everyone needs a reminder of what God expects of mankind and what happens when they don't acknowledge His Wisdom.

Secular humanists need it more than Christians.

Crucible, how am I or the "Satanists" trying to "assault Christian belief ?" We're not telling Christians they can't believe in Christianity . But if Christians can put up Christian statues and monuments, followers of other religions should have the right to do this, too .
Do you have a problem with this ? The "Satanic" statues are really nothing but a publicity stunt .
How will they "hurt " Christians ?
