Hi to all and Col 3:3 exposes the Anti- OSAS people as wrong and the Shabbiness of Purgatory and those who trust in Water Baptism , or Tongues or a Covenant to save them !

For you are DIED and your Life has been HIDDEN with Christ in God !

#1 , Ye have DIED or Dead /Apothesko , is a S Aorist verb that speaks of your having died and in the Active Voice , which means it is the Subject ( God ) that is producing the action and in the Indicative Mood of Fact >

#2 , IS HID / KRYPTO , is in the Greek Perfect Tense which says that when you DIED you are ALWAYS in the Present Continuous action of always being saved !

Hi Dan,

I agree with you on osas but your tenses need a little work, not on this post though. 😉

Jesus was saved from death by a resurrection and sure enough once he was saved he is forever saved. Before he was saved from death though he could have sinned, but he didn't.

That's all God asks of us - don't sin and if you do sin then repent and turn from your sin.

Sin is toxic.

All God asks is that we believe. Repent means to change your mind from unbelief to belief. This is simple enough for everyone to understand. Nothing complicated about it. If we had to just "stop sinning" then our Lord need not have come to die on the cross.

Stopping sinning does not remit past sins. There is no remittance without the shedding of blood. Repentance means asking God for forgiveness and then turning from our sin.

Are all sins - past, present and future - forgiven at the moment one believes the Gospel, or only those committed up to that point?

Sins are remitted based on repentance and we can't repent for sins we haven't committed.

Stopping sinning does not remit or remove ANY SIN. It was the work of the cross that took care of all sin.

No, repentance does not mean asking God for forgiveness....and then "turning from sin". If that were the case, as I said, then our Lord didn't need to come and die on the cross. We would just have to be sorry and start being good.

Repentance means to change your mind. It is a change of mind from unbelief to believing. That's why the word says to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. It's why our Lord said, "Whosoever believeth will not perish..."

Yes. Holy Spirit through glorydaz speaks the truth.

How are we to live ?........ in light of the saving power of the gospel---Jesus? That is what Romans 12—16 aims to teach.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:1–2).

You are talking about universal salvation which I don't subscribe to.

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying, "The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent ye and believe the gospel." (Mark 1:14-15 KJV)

Jesus preached repentance.

No, I'm not talking about universal salvation.

Jesus died for the sins of the world, so mankind is reconciled to God. Sin has been dealt with. But, peace is a two-way street. We must each be reconciled....not because of sin but in order to have LIFE. "Reconciled by His death, but MUCH MORE saved by His life." That isn't universal salvation.

Repentance is a change of mind. So, what were the Jews supposed to change their mind about?

Repentance is a turning from unbelief to belief....a change of mind. A turning to God from whatever idols we've been serving (self, for example).

1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

Claiming we somehow "deal" with sin is spitting on the work our Saviour did on the cross. :nono:
