So....reading Scripture and trying to get a clue on What people's views are on this.

Deu 5:1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
Deu 5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Deu 5:3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Deu 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

It depends on whether one is a descendant of that people who were delivered by GOD from slavery in Egypt and are still under the law given through Moses.

steko,

So would it behoove a person to know if they were a descendant of one of the 12 tribes of Israel?

That would be one's personal choice to pursue and would not necessarily be a successful endeavor.

I rather recommend one coming to embrace Israel's Messiah and finding rest in Him, no matter one's ethnicity.

God thought that the Sabbath was so important that He exiled the children of Israel from the land for 70 years so the land could keep the sabbaths that had not been kept in it for the preceeding 490 years.
