The New Jerusalem

The New Jerusalem is only mentioned twice in the bible.

What do you think that it actually is and what will it be used for during the Millenium ?

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

STP has a thread about tribulation doctrine, although it's in Theology Club so access is limited. this can be a good thread for all members. i haven't studied enough to draw conclusions, but i saw some excellent posts about New Jerusalem on STP's thread, even the possible shapes/forms and meanings.

Let me guess, you're a futurist and what's more a dispensationalist?

Isaiah 62:1-2
1. For the sake of Zion will I not hold my peace, and for sake of Yerushalaim I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burns.
2. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of YHWH shall name.

Ah, to be clothed from on High . . . (New-Renewed Covenant)

The women are the cities are the covenants are an allegory:

Galatians 4:22-27 ASV
22. For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the freewoman.
23. Howbeit the son by the handmaid is born after the flesh; but the son by the freewoman is born through promise.
24. Which things contain an allegory: for these women are two covenants; one from mount Sinai, bearing children unto bondage, which is Hagar.
25. Now this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia and answereth to the Jerusalem that now is: for she is in bondage with her children.
26. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is our mother.
27. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; Break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: For more are the children of the desolate than of her that hath the husband [Isaiah 54:1].

Isaiah 54:1-10 KJV Restored Name
54:1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, [Galatians 4:27] saith YHWH.
54:2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, [Exodus 26:7-14] and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: [Exodus 26:1-33] spare not, lengthen thy cords, [Exodus 35:18] and strengthen thy stakes; [Exodus 27:19]
54:3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
54:4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
54:5 For thy Maker is thine husband; YHWH of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Set-apart One of Israel; The Elohim of the whole earth shall he be called.
54:6 For YHWH hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy Elohim.
54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith YHWH thy Redeemer.
54:9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, [Numbers 25:11-13] saith YHWH that hath mercy on thee.

2 Corinthians 5:1-4
1. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle-tent were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3. If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4. For we that are in this tabernacle-tent do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

21 is the key ... you won't see the new Jerusalem until after the millennial reign. Don't cherry pick scripture old friend, read it all.

Chapter 20 discusses the millennial reign and the judgement that comes after. 21 discusses what comes after that ... I suspect that is why 21 comes after 20. The Millennial Jerusalem is raised up from the earth (Zec 14). The post millennial Jerusalem comes down to earth from heaven (Rev 21).

Hmm....I know what the pillars and trees represent, but I don't "get" the reference to the hooks not falling....???

It was just to say that the golden hooks are similar to the "leaves" in the statement, in that they do not fall, neither summer nor winter. There are seven pillars on the inside and two outside the door on the threshold-porch, (later called Boaz and Yakin when the first Temple was built) and the Pillar whose name is Branch and Door stands at the opening behind the first veil at the entrance, (and no one enters the Mishkan Paradise but by him and therefore by his Testimony). All of the pillars have hooks because the curtain at the door is hung on those five pillars and likewise the inner veil, (which represents the heavens) is hung on the four interior pillars. Perhaps the analogy has also to do with the similar analogy of a strong nail or peg fastened into a sure place. :)

In Johns vision on Patmos he was shown the renovated earth of the future, an age where the original gospel will have been preached and the world subdued by the brotherhood of man within the currently dormant "Kingdom of heaven."

Excellent. Ok, I thought it might be leaves you were talking about, but wasn't sure. Yes, to be clothed from above.....and it's happening NOW. Peace
