There's two kinds of book bans; the Bible and Penthouse Magazine¹. If you don't know what Penthouse is, don't look it up, it's just smut. So we have two kinds of book bans in our society, the Bible or Penthouse¹. Which one do you think Mme. Summer Boismier lost her teaching license over? I'm willing to bet it's because they were banning Penthouse, and not the Bible¹, that she was all upset about.
I know nothing about this case but what the NYT is telling me right here in this snip (I don't have access to their content, just their front page), but I know this person got in trouble because she was upset that Penthouse was being banned from children's libraries, and not the Bible¹. But ofc the NYT isn't going to tell you that on the front page
which is Thomas Sowell's point in the preceding post. “ The front page of the New York Times is perhaps the most blatant example of editorials disguised as news reports, but by no means the only one. ”
¹ Look, ofc there's more than just the Bible and Penthouse being banned. I'm saying there is a spectrum re smut when it comes to book bans². Nobody among our Founders, and nobody even in the Nazi era in Germany, when they were actually burning books, thought that Penthouse or anything along the spectrum toward Penthouse, was fit for children's libraries. But today these retards think that's actually appropriate, and not only appropriate, but that you're an authoritarian fascist if you want to ban Penthouse from innocent children. The NYT in this clipped article is definitely defending a woman who desperately wants children to see Penthouse Magazine. And it's because she's a feminist. All libertarianism descends from feminism, which is why libertarians are so wrong, wrong, wrong, on a few issues³.
² It means, Penthouse represents smut and smut-adjacent content. It represents Playboy, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, underwear advertisements, thirst traps, and faggoty and all other kinds of Onanism smut; everything along that spectrum, I am just summarizing it with Penthouse Magazine. When you're trying to ban Penthouse from children's libraries, there shouldn't be a controversy. And if someone says, "Oh we shouldn't ban Penthouse Magazine from children's libraries," then you fire them. There's no controversy. Fire them.
³ On many issues libertarians appear to be great. But they descend from feminism. ACW knew this here at TOL, and preached it relentlessly. Libertarianism is not neutral, it is not original (it is downstream of feminism), and it defends gay marriage, gay adoption and surrogacy (gay married couples buy their children this way), and trans. The quote-unquote "TERF" movement is an incoherent position. "TIRF" is self-consistent feminism and TERF is incoherent, and if feminists want to be TERFs, then they should just be traditionalist conservative patriarchalists instead, because TERF is incoherent. You're either TIRF and you're a feminist, or you're a patriarchalist, and you should just accept that. These TERFs like J.K. Rowling are
