Speaking of sticking her in front of the cameras:

Greta Thunberg - The Daily Show

What the media fails to talk about is all the flying the crew who supported her trip had to do. All those carbon emissions just to do a publicity stunt at the expense of a little girl who will be forgotten by them as soon as her usefulness as a prop is done and over with. Then she'll go back home and wonder what happened to all her "friends". I feel for her as she has some tough lessons coming to her at the behest of her so-called climate friends.

Many people love to spread rumors saying that I have people ”behind me” or that I’m being ”paid” or ”used” to do what I’m doing....

Oh, right. Because anybody who has handlers behind their publicity stunts could/would NEVER say "Nobody is directing me, or paying me, etc., to be doing this!" Therefore, she MUST be telling the truth when she says that her performance is all of her own initiative and direction.

Tell Greta Thunberg the truth: Global warming isn’t dangerous

The most noteworthy thing about the global warming “debate” these days is how little of it has anything to do with rationality or science. In that respect, Greta Thunberg is the perfect spokesperson for her side of the debate. She’s a 16-year-old girl with Asperger’s who is depressed, obsessive-compulsive and has selective mutism. Rather notably, she seems to have developed many of these problems because propaganda from her parents and other sources made her hysterical about global warming.

These sort of doomsday prophecies have been a feature of numerous cults, but rather bizarrely, we now have politically motivated adults trying to scare ignorant kids to death because they think their needless terror will benefit the Left. It’s the same thing that has been done with school shootings, which are about as likely to kill a child in any given year as a lightning strike, but it’s worse because of the scale. Children are now falsely being told that scientists agree we only have a few years left to save the planet.

Of course, none of this is true and there is really no need to be afraid of global warming at all, much less work yourself up to the point where you need to see a therapist about the issue.
Let’s assume man-made CO2 is increasing the temperature and that for reasons unknown, the world refuses to build the plants that will suck CO2 right out of the air. So, then what? Does the world end in a fiery catastrophe? Not at all.

In fact, life wouldn’t change one bit because of global warming for most people. That’s not to say that there wouldn’t be any impact. Some low-lying areas would be flooded. There are estimates that it could cost the United States 10% of its economic output by 2100, which is pretty insignificant when you consider how much the economy should grow between now and 2100.

Some areas will become hotter, drier, and less usable as farmland. Other colder areas will benefit from being warmer. Water may be scarcer in some areas and more accessible in others.

Put another way, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, it would just mean there would be changes, some good and probably a few more bad. Some people may think it’s worth it politically to scare kids to death over global warming, and responsible adults need to stop trying to frighten them with propaganda and doomsday prophecies.

500 Scientists Prove That Global Warming Consensus Is a Lie

Leftists present a supposed global warming consensus among scientists as if it were a trump card. We cannot actually prove that human CO2 production does not have a problematic effect on global temperature, any more than liberals can prove that it does. But we can prove that their contrived consensus is a lie:

More than 500 scientists and professionals in climate and related fields have sent a “European Climate Declaration” to the Secretary-General of the United Nations asking for a long-overdue, high-level, open debate on climate change. …

“Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific,” the declaration states. “Scientists should openly address the uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real benefits as well as the imagined costs of adaptation to global warming, and the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of mitigation.”

Scientists point out that the cure is worse than the imaginary disease.

“There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent,” they declared. “However, CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly. For instance, wind turbines kill birds and bats, and palm-oil plantations destroy the biodiversity of the rainforests.”

We may have bigger problems than biodiversity in the rainforests.

“There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm,” they note. “We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050.”

Imposing such a policy would probably have no beneficial effects whatsoever. The negative economic effects would be incalculable, resulting in a depression at best and possibly mass starvation following economic collapse. The current human population cannot be sustained without abundant and reliable energy.

“We urge you to follow a climate policy based on sound science, realistic economics and genuine concern for those harmed by costly but unnecessary attempts at mitigation,” they declare.

Unfortunately, that’s not on the progressive agenda.

If global warming isn't intensifying hurricanes, how is it that we've seen six "category 5" hurricanes develop over the past 4 years? --
The numbers are inaccurate because they have only recently been counting hurricanes that did not make landfall.

If you look at the data from NOAA for hurricanes that made landfall, you will find a different story.
Category 5 hurricanes made landfall in 1935, 1969, 1992, and 2018.
We can also see that the numbers of hurricanes that made landfall per decade has no relationship to rising CO2 levels.
*2010s are only through 2018

If CO2 had something to do with increased hurricane activity, then there must have been more CO2 in the atmosphere in the 1880s and 1940s than we have had lately.

JEREMY CLARKSON The world may be getting hotter, Greta Thunberg… but having a meltdown isn’t going to help

“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood,” she sobbed.

“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?”

Right, well in the immortal words of Samuel L Jackson: “Allow me to retort.”

How dare we? No. How dare you sail to America on a carbon fibre yacht that you didn’t build which cost £15million, that you didn’t earn, and which has a back-up diesel engine that you didn’t mention.

So how dare you stand there and lecture us, you spoilt brat.

And yes, you are spoilt because when you told your mum and dad to stop using planes and give up meat, they didn’t behave like sane parents and ignore you. They actually said, “Yes, dear.” And did.

I agree with you that the world is heating up. You may even be right that man has something to do with it.

And there is no doubt that as deserts eat into currently habitable places in Africa and the Middle East, Europe will face an unimaginable refugee crisis.

Something needs to be done about that. So how’s this for an idea. Get back to school as quickly as possible and work hard in your science lectures.

Because science is what will solve the problem eventually. Not scowling and having screaming ab-dabs every five minutes.

This Greta Thunberg thing is child abuse

For all that, conservatives have rightly griped at the performative pointlessness of Thunberg's schtick, and for all that, liberals have rightly griped that a waning but still significant segment of conservatives deny the reality of anthropogenic climate change; the biggest travesty lost in the hype about the Swedish activist who recently sailed to American shores is that her parents, the media, and the climate alarmist Left are basically engaging in child abuse.

The case of Thunberg is even more egregious. She began suffering from depression as a child, by her own admission, in part because she learned about climate change at age 8. She was later diagnosed with autism and obsessive compulsive disorder and gradually became despondent as she obsessed over her fear of climate change. She developed mutism and an eating disorder so severe that she once went two months without food, and she stopped going to school. Her only sibling, a sister named Beata, also suffers from Asperger's and OCD, as well as ADHD.

Now tell me, does it seem healthy to place a child with this many mental illnesses under the spotlight of public scrutiny, with a sole focus on the very phenomenon and associated alarmism that triggered her in the first place?

If you're a fading opera starlet married into a family of fame, and your only two children are having exceptional trouble even attending school, then I suppose you can secure a bit more fame by milking your child's clinically diagnosed obsession. But given that Greta's mental struggles and triggers actually led her to the brink of death, the whole thing smacks of child abuse.

The One Person Who Shows Just How Unhinged Global Warming Alarmism Has Become

The face of the global warming scare was once that of Al Gore. Now that face belongs to a 16-year-old girl who’s being treated as a prophetess. It’s hard to conceive of a world gone more mad.

Greta Thunberg has been thrust into the spotlight, tagged as the child who will lead us away from our inevitable climate disaster — if only we let her. Adults hang on her words, regard her as an omniscient oracle, insist that we are in the presence of our savior.

The more reasonable among us see a young lady who’s being exploited by an intractable, alarmist movement and a set of parents craving, what, relevance maybe.

The Voxers are correct though in observing that “Thunberg’s fearless rhetoric has proven to be enormously influential.” And therein is the problem.

The story says Thunberg arrived at her activism on her own, first hearing about global warming at 8, then becoming depressed at 11, ostensibly because the world wasn’t responding to global warming adequately enough to suit her. But she’s no priestess ordained by the Almighty, just a vessel used to repeat global warming propaganda. She’s a human shield held up to protect the disseminators of junk science, radicals determined to take over the global economy, and an assortment of angry agitators.

It’s unlikely to happen, but every adult who has placed Thunberg on a pedestal should be embarrassed for taking seriously what is so plainly a stunt, for so obviously trying to signal their moral superiority over the unbelieving rubes, for flattering themselves as sages who recognize greatness. They should be ashamed for hitching themselves to the operators who are cashing in on the girl. They should be held to account for failing, or refusing, to recognize they are giving life to a cult, one that a mentally healthy society would have already turned back.

Greta Thunberg is an ‘ignorant brainwashed child being abused by adults’, says Corbyn’s brother

Schoolgirl environmental activist Greta Thunberg has been described as suffering ‘mental abuse by manipulative adults’ by Jeremy Corbyn’s brother.

Piers Corbyn, 72, is a climate change denier and adds that listening to Miss Thunberg, 16, was ‘deranged’ describing her as an ‘ignorant brainwashed child’.

He tweeted a BBC News article about the teenager’s visit to the UK telling MPs they need to ‘listen to climate scientists’.

He said: ‘Listening to an ignorant brainwashed child is deranged. I am an actual scientist of physics Meteorology, astrophysics and climate and say @GretaThunberg is wrong and suffers mental abuse by manipulative adults.’

Two category 4 hurricanes struck the US in 2017, and one category 5 struck the US in 2018. That level of severe hurricane activity is unprecedented.
In the 1940s there were 4 level 4 hurricanes, 4 level 3 hurricanes, 8 level 2 hurricanes, and 7 level 1 hurricanes that made landfall.
In the 2000s there were 1 level 4 hurricanes, 6 level 3 hurricanes, 4 level 2 hurricanes, and 8 level 1 hurricanes that made landfall.

There is nothing unprecedented about the hurricane activity.
We are now able to identify and accurately measure more hurricanes that we were able to in the past, and even with our greater detection ability we are seeing fewer hurricanes.
