How is Jesus the mediator of the better covenant that was established on better promises?

Because the NEW covenant is better than the OLD covenant... both were between God and Israel.

Everything in the Christian religion is "By faith".

When Paul wrote Hebrews he wrote a whole chapter on faith, Hebrews the 11th chapter. He used the word "faith" 22 times. Everything in the Christian religion is "By faith".

A covenant is a promise. God made many promises to Israel. The New Covenant was that God's people would be justified, sanctified and redeemed by Jesus Christ and his Gospel and would be given the Holy Spirit, Hebrews 8:10-12. This is why Paul said, "You are complete in him" Colossians 2:10.

All of the promises that God made to Israel were fulfilled when he gave them Jesus Christ.
