we are a nation of laws

let us give thanks for the police that enforce them

Getting shot in the back sixteen times while walking away from a cop who just showed up on the scene isn't a crime. Unless they can shoot any of us whenever they feel like it. Maybe that's just the new normal.

Living in the city of Chicago, as I do, I will say that I personally have had no bad encounters with our cities police officers. That is just me personally, then again I am a white girl. I was also recently pulled over in a suburb and a cop issued me a ticket for a violation I did not commit. At first I tried to calmly tell the officer that he was mistaken. He didn't listen, so I decided that I'll just quietly take the ticket and then take my chances with the judge. I will be honest, the thought "You can't be too careful to not appear belligerent" did cross my mind. Speaking on the video itself, it's horrific. There is also the fact that the same cop had some 60 complaints built up that appear to have been ignored. His eyes in his mug shot creep me out too. I will be interested in hearing my uncles take on the situation today, he's a retired cop, not from Chicago, but another large city in the state.
Yes the situation was surely tense, yes the boy had PCP in his system, but there was a better way to handle this. I'm pretty sure Rahm is done after this, not that he was overly popular in this city to begin with lately. I mean his re election slogan was, I know you don't like me, but at least I'm better than the other guy.
I will never deny that Chicago has problems, we have some BIG problems, but they don't exist in a vacuum. We are very "naturally" (city planning at it's finest) segregated, however that has been slowly, so slowly changing. You still don't see white people moving into Englewood, but the "traditionally white" neighborhoods are becoming ever less so. The school system is awful, unless it's a charter or private school. I've never been a fan of the "lets run it as a corporation" idea. I do not feel any less safe in this city now, than before.

Well now that I've rambled, I think I'll stop.

Liberals can run any good city into the ground...just look at Detroit. At 455 murders so far this year in Chicago, 80% of which are black on Black homicides, Chicago looks more like a war zone than an American city and such is liberal leadership...or the lack thereof.

Just when in your estimation was Chicago run into the ground? Have you ever even been to Chicago? It LOOKS nothing like a war zone, you are insulting those that do live in actual war zones. What are the issues causing violence in Chicago? Here's a hint, I mentioned one in my other post. Chicago has problems, but just blaming liberals is lazy.

That's just what they do. All the time.

I hail from suburban Detroit...and a slightly stronger if hyperbolic case can be made for Motown proper (though there are many, many folks there trying their very best to turn the place around). But to use "liberal" as shorthand for anything you disagree with is beyond small-minded, simplistic, and flat-out stupid.

I actually have been to Chicago, many times and yes, there are parts of the city that are nice, just as I have been to Detroit my parents were born and raised there but, it does not change the way things were & are now, I have seen first hand the how liberal policies exacerbate these problems. The stats on the crime in "your city" speak for themselves, and yes, these numbers are that of a war zone, sorry if that offends...

Year To Date
Shot & Killed: 403
Shot & Wounded: 2316
Total Shot: 2719
Total Homicides: 455

more staggering stats:

What would that be? pointing out the obvious?

My Dad & Mom including all my extended family is from Wyandotte most of which would agree that it was decades of failed liberal policies (and politicians) that destroyed Detroit.

But to use "liberal" as shorthand for anything you disagree with is beyond small-minded, simplistic, and flat-out stupid.

Denial of the obvious is also quite stupid and lazy, nor does it get to the root of the problem trying to avoid the obvious. I could care less if liberals get their nose out of joint when the handiwork of their psychosis is pointed out...like alcoholics, the first step is acceptance & admission that their worldview is the problem.

So now homicides and shootings are directly tied to liberals ?

Are there that many liberals in this country ?

I would've said "zero" but that's just me.
You put more emphasis on the safety of a man running around terrorizing people with a knife than the safety of the police officers who are trying to uphold the law.

And therefore.... you are a moron.
