Officers are and should be trained in judo and catch wrestling or some form of take down and apprehension techniques, tasers, baton, mace etc.

Why can't your police do more of that instead of the macho 'instant subservience or you get shot' technique?

most american cops don't carry batons - they became taboo after that poor poor innocent rodney king was shown being beaten with them
