How about "attack a cop without any weapons, and you are going to get arrested, charged and prosecuted" like in civilised countries?

"and you're gonna get shot", even when there is no substantial risk to life, sounds like some extra training for the cop is necessary. If sounds like the cop is inflicting a punishment rather than trying to manage a situation.

What crime had been committed by the time the cop started the aggression?

Why do you believe it's okay to attack a cop "without any weapons"?

Yup.

Not handing over documents is a simple misdemeanor,

So when the driver refuses, the cop should tell him "no prob, go on your merry way"?

BTW, being indignant and refusing to show documentation and cooperation is a quality associated with guilt, for good reason.

The cop had requested a support car, and had the unarmed lad subdued and lying face down on the ground such that he was of only minimal risk to the trained officer.

With no risk to safety couldn't be have waited for the car before damaging the phone, which was the escalating act?

The Michigan authorities said that the officer, although probably acting legally, could have acted in a better way that could have avoided the death. Don't you agree?

Guilt is not for the cop to determine, is it? And being indignant is not illegal.

Because he is demon possessed. Even when the cop is wrong like in the video, obedience like MLK showed is the correct way.

OR perhaps this has more to do with today's youth being advised by their parents and elders that disrespect towards others (especially elders and authority figures) is uncool.

Even on TOL, it's gotten to the point that a subcategory is needed for all the cop-bashing threads.

Admittedly, I am old ... however, these situations were rare as in almost never happened when I was younger.

Then again, back then, if a child used an expletive towards a teacher or other authority figures, they would have been left with a reminder on their backside that it wasn't acceptable.

He was lying prone on the ground as requested.

You are the one I was talking about you nincompoop. He attacked the officer when the stun gun didn't work. The stun gun didn't was pulled out because he did not in fact comply with directives to supply license, registration, and proof of insurance.

Argue with him after the fact. The move by him was actually kind of stuupid.

Only the ones who empty their guns into unarmed kids. In the UK, and cops are trained to fire two quick shots. Couldn't this cop disable the kid with the first six shots? Seems like he was intent on killing rather that disabling. (How DARE the boy be disobedient and respond to his aggression agressively!)

And, for your info, beating children does not make them respect authority, only fear its more enthusiastic proponents.

ok doser

lifeguard at the cement pond
maybe the beatings or lack thereof made him dead

either way, we should blame the beatings

Guilford refused to show the officer his license and registration because he had broken no laws and the officer had no reason to stop him.

Some wise advice for those who actually understand and know the law:

If Stopped by the Police

Good advice, although the list could be much shorter if it stuck to legal requirements, but Guilford was being a jerk. If you shot all teenagers acting like jerks you wouldn't have many teenagers left.

Good advice,

Exactly ... and still yet, many are unwilling to state that the teen had a responsibility to "not act like a jerk". Instead you have decided to ignore and even encourage teens to not comply.

And you've encouraged bad apple cops to empty their guns into rude kids, if you want to look at it like that. :idunno:
