So lets look again at all the blessings the elect have before they repent and believe which serve as the motive and foundation on why they are caused to repent ad believe.

Blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ in accordance to having been chosen in Him before the foundation of the world and are without blame and holy before him in love Eph 1:3-4

Predestinated unto the adoption of sons Eph 1:5

Accepted in the Beloved Eph 1:6

Having redemption through his blood with the forgiveness of sins/justification Eph 1:7

Have in Him obtained an inheritance Eph 1:11

Now the fruit of this for all the elect, chosen in Christ is that they will receive spiritual life by which they spiritually hear of the gospel of their salvation Eph 1:12-14

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

See only the spiritually alive can hear Gods words, Jesus told some one day this Jn 8:43,47

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word[spiritually].

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Jesus here tells us who it is that hears [spiritually] Gods words, He that is of God, or Born of God, and so thats who hears the Gospel of their Salvation, not spiritually lost and dead sinners in the flesh.

Amen, all Spiritual Blessings given to the elect of God before the foundation of the world Eph. 1:3-11, ensures their receiving of Spiritual Life in time with the ability to Hear God's Words which are Spiritual 1 Cor. 2:13: For they must Hear the Gospel of their Salvation which was given them before the World began 2 Tim. 1:9.

But the spiritually lost and dead sinners cannot hear the gospel of their salvation, for they never had salvation; were never sons of God John 8:43, 47 because never chosen of God !

Before the elect ever believe or repent and while dead in sins, They in Him [Christ] have Eternal Life !

Lets look again at Eph 1:11

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

This inheritance is nothing short of Eternal Life. This the elect have already obtained, a eternal inheritance by and through the Lord Jesus Christ. In time they shall be called into the knowledge of that inheritance, Hebrews reads Heb 9:15

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

This I believe is the same Inheritance Peter writes of 1 Pet 1:4

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

The Spirit is the earnest of it Eph 1:14

3 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Amen Brother ! That very fact alone, that God predestinated His Elect to be His Adopted Children Eph. 1:5, they are guaranteed this Blessing of Eternal Inheritance Eph. 1:11, 14 being predestinated to be conformed to the Image of His Son. So being that God already reckoned them as Sons, they are called in time and made aware of this Glorious Inheritance Heb. 2:10 by giving them His Spirit in New Birth Eph. 1:13-14 as the earnest, or pledge, or down-payment of His Glorious Promise !

Rom. 8:28-30

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

And all this before they ever come to repent and believe the Gospel !

The elect were in Christ before the world began 2 Tim 1:9 so its said Grace was given them in Christ before the world began

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Paul had wrote to the Ephesians they had been chosen in Christ before the foundation Eph 1:4

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

So the elect were in Him before the foundation and at which instance they were given grace in Him !

Now John writes and tells us that Christ was Eternal Life. 1 Jn 1:1-2
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us)

Eternal Life here is Christ Jesus, and the elect were in Him Eternal Life before the world began, which proves they had Eternal Life before they believed.

Regeneration or Newbirth is a blessing the elect have before they believe. Spiritually lost and dead people do not believe and then get saved, only spiritually alive saved people believe the Gospel. Prior to being saved and made alive, we were dead in our sins Eph 2:1

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

God must make His people alive while they are dead in their sins, that delivers them from spiritual death, and gives them Spiritual hearing, seeing, and understanding, to receive and believe the Gospel. Jesus said Matt 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The good ground is the new heart given in new birth Ezk 36:2

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Salvation is all the Work of God in all His Elect exclusively !

Not ashamed of the Gospel.

Paul the apostle declares (by divine revelation) that he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. This Gospel, the message concerning the person of Christ, is the power of God unto salvation. It is the message alone by which the Holy Ghost calls men effectually out of spiritual darkness unto Christ Who is light. By this message the righteousness of God (Christ) is revealed. The message of the Gospel of Christ declares that He alone redeemed a people who though totally depraved (dead in trespasses and sin) were unconditionally chosen unto salvation by God the Father’s own will and purpose. He, as their substitute by imputation (the charging of their guilt to Himself), was made to be sin for them and suffered the wrath of divine justice for those sins. Those whose sin debt was imputed to Christ needed now a fit righteousness. That righteousness, the righteousness of their Surety, was imputed to them freely. They now, before God Almighty, stand (in Christ) justified. These who have been justified (the just) live, or have their life (spiritual life) revealed by faith. This faith, the grace granted by God’s Spirit to believe the report concerning Christ, is the evidence of their justification. I am not ashamed of that Gospel. Clay Curtis writes in his excellent sermon:

What did Christ do for us when we were yet sinners, Christ justified us by his bloodv10—being now justified by his blood--To be justified is to be pardoned of all sin and made perfectly righteous before God through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is our acceptance with God. Not our works, nor our faith, not obedience performed by us after faith is given us. We are accepted by what Christ has done for us (Ro 3:25 Eph 2:13 Heb 9:12.) Through the righteousness of God faith is given to us, then through faith righteousness is imputed to us, so that we do not boast in our faith—faith excludes boasting in us—we glory in the Lord our Righteousness!

What did God do when we were yet sinners? God reconciled us to himself by the death of his SonV10—…when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son

Reconciliation is a loss of friendship between God and his elect. Sin in us caused the breach. We had to have our sin put away in order for

God to receive us again as his friend. Therefore when by the death of his Son, when full satisfaction was made, when sin was atoned for, and put away, blotted out, and cast behind God's back, reconciliation was effected. It was done when Christ said it is finished—when as yet we were enemies!

Um, what?
He's saying that because of sin, the elect had a lost of fellowship, this occurred in Adam. God once told Israel Isa 59:2

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Christs death dealt effectually with this problem between He and His elect.

You're not paying attention.

The problem I had with what was said was the bit where it said "Reconciliation is the loss of friendship[/B]..."

Reconciliation is not a "loss" of anything. If anything, it's a RESTORATION of [the possibility of] friendship between two parties.
